The Prince O’Whales, the oldest sports bar in Los Angeles was built in the late 50’s. Formerly the “Bowsprit” it was named after the one that still hangs over the bar to this day. In keeping with the nautical theme and being only three short blocks from the Pacific Ocean, the current establishment was and remains known as the Prince O’ Whales.
Steve Mayer, the owner bought the bar in the summer of 1972. After being thrown out of every other place in Playa Del Rey for having a little too much fun.
The Prince O’Whales is still a quaint local beach spot serving food and ice cold beverages. It’s become affectionately referred to as the P.O.W.
Since the early 70’s when a 20’ tower was installed to get the Lakers games, it has always sought to provide the best of sports coverage. Now boasting some 17 big screen monitors and extensive satellite and local coverage, you’re likely to find your venue available.
