Not many photos taken of the "stars of the show"--the food! But everyone had a wonderful time. Scones were served on the bottom plates of the tiers with flowers.
Raspberry Peach Parfait—iced, is so cooling when working in the garden. It’s a black tea with, of course, raspberry and peach flavors but also has a smooth finish of vanilla to tie it all together.
Sconehenge.
It’s National Iced Tea Day! How about a thirst-quenching glass of ChariTea? A green tea with cherry and peach flavors will refresh anyone on these hot summer days!
♥️ 💙 Thank you 🇺🇸
Wishing ALL the moms a beautiful day!
Since it was just my birthday—from here on out, please call me “classic” and let my son get that memo too!
I watched this, smiled with my heart, then I choked up. Especially wonderful to see in such a young person. 💙
Jan and Feb crept along soooo slowly, yet it flew by in a flash!
I served afternoon tea to 15 ladies yesterday. Still sorting photos. Since I've had a back fracture, I'm taking it easy putting things away today, resting in between, or working on my to-do list that didn't get done in Jan and Feb! Just sat down for a little lunch of leftovers with my own blend of English Breakfast, ham and pineapple roll ups, cucumber sandwiches, and an eclair. (not pictured, egg salad sandwich, gave that to my husband).
Oh! And I'm using one of the salad plates that was gifted to me...a perfect little set, since I don't often use dinner plates.
And, I'm enjoying that the wind has dropped from 30 - 60mph down to 23 - 35!! Happy Sunday!
Someone asked for my Earl Grey Tea Cookie recipe and so I decided to just post it here for all to share. A friend had found the recipe and tried it with my Earl Grey. They turned out pretty good!
Notes: If you use bagged store-bought tea, it's dust and that will work, as is, in this recipe. But if using my brand, the tea leaves are fairly large so I would suggest chopping them up into finer pieces. I did this by cupping my hand over the top of the knife to keep the pieces from flying too much. Also, these cookies can be made any size, just adjust the time in the oven.
And here is the link for the original recipe. https://www.aspicyperspective.com/earl-grey-cookies-tea-cakes/
Thank you to all my customers who have supported my small business this past year. Thank you to those who have followed my page, liked, commented, and shared my posts! And to those who interact, that truly means a lot! Best wishes!
As we say goodbye to 2023 and hello to 2024, what are some of your traditions you practice for the end of the year or the start of a new one? Usually I was babysitting on NYE, so while the parents were celebrating, I would make root beer floats and eat potato chips with onion dip. New Year’s Day my mom always made a pot of navy beans, for good luck and wealth. Tomorrow I will be making navy beans. And we’ll eat 12 grapes.
Thankful for many things this year--new friendships, good health, great food, a nice home and so many other wonderful things and people. Stay safe and enjoy your holiday, however you decide to celebrate it.
Which cup will you have today?
I’m choosing I am strong!

How cool!
Glass beach in California.
Glass Beach is a fascinating site that has been naturally transformed from a century-old trash site into a multicolored treasure chest.
Over the years, the sea’s waves churning against the sands have smoothed the edges of car batteries, bottles and cans, turning them into a rainbow of translucent colors.
Capture photos of this extraordinary beach on the Pacific Ocean.Choose your favorite colors among the ruby reds and bright blues. Inspect these fascinating gems, before leaving them on the beach for others to discover.
Consider the origins of the various stones. Sapphire gems come from apothecary bottles, while the ruby reds are likely from pre-1967 tail lights.
Glass Beach consists of three individual bays that were all used as trash sites for decades. Climb to the top of the cliffs around the northernmost beach and enjoy a picnic with your family. Appreciate the panoramic views of the ocean, with its many rocks and tiny islands that rise above the foamy water.Stroll along this multicolored beach with your family and friends. Feel the cool sensation of the waves on your feet on a warm day.
Spot the small yellow endangered Menzies’ wallflower that grows here.Note that the three dump sites operated from 1906 until 1967. Over the years, programs were put in place to undo the environmental damage and much of the metal and other non-biodegradable items were sold as scrap.
The force of the waves broke down the remaining pottery and glass into small jewels.Glass Beach overlooks the Pacific Ocean in the northwestern corner of Fort Bragg. It is just south of Pudding Creek and stands at the end of the Glass Beach Trail that runs from the town center.
Leave your car in the parking lot at the intersection between the trail and the nearest road. The beach is open at all times and is free to enter.

You are magical!
Way to go, Vegas Golden Knights! You won the Cup!
A little history on this team, for those of you who follow me in other countries. This team is our baby, it was born here, created in 2017, the first major sports franchise in Las Vegas. Their first game was Oct. 10, during the aftermath of the 1 Oct mass shooting on the Las Vegas Strip. (The deadliest mass shooting by an individual in the US). The timing couldn’t have been better for something new and exciting, to lift up our city, rally together for a happy reason, and create a topic of conversation that even strangers can share. They even made it to the Stanley cup finals the first season!
I am not a sports fan but this team has made following them, FUN! They upset a lot of people when they took a political stand in 2020 and many had absolutely walked away from the team, including our family. But, when they were confronted with the facts, conversations happened between the team and our law enforcement, apologies were said, and all is right. (Funny how things go right when approached in a common sense manner and through talking!) They continue to give back to the community and have more than made up for their little digression.
Congratulations, Vegas Golden Knights on all your hard work, your growth (in all ways), and for everything you do for the city.
The “hardware” is pulled and ready for afternoon tea! Today is about food prep and some quick cleaning. Tomorrow is cooking, baking, and setting tables for 16 ladies.
Wishing all the moms and families a beautiful day!
Took me an hour to drive “36 minutes” to go be fingerprinted AGAIN because, you know, 7 times with the school district isn’t enough. The extra time was because there was a HUGE police presence near the airport and there was no way out of the jam. At least 2 dozen law enforcement vehicles—a shooting. So, my reprints only took 15 min and I felt I deserved a little something from my second favorite bakery in town. And now the drive back across town. Wish I had a cup of tea in the car, I would eat this danish. 😆
Happy month of May! Today is Beltane, the day right in the middle of Spring Equinox and Summer Solstice. I called it May Day when I was young and learned to give neighbors flowers on this day. I always thought the May Pole dance was pretty cool too and would have been fun. Ways to celebrate are to spend time outdoors and give thanks to the plants and trees, have a bonfire, put flowers in your home.
Meme is from .and.aligned (name got cut off, follow this lovely lady!)
Come out and sample some teas and see my new table set up! Close to 40 vendors including many handmade items, food, drinks, a florist, and fresh eggs! Look for all the tents at Rainbow and Blue Diamond. Please feel free to share!

Potassium bitartrate, an acid salt, should be in every baker’s kitchen. It’s a white powdery residue from the fermentation stage of wine, where it crystallizes inside wine barrels. Being a weak acid, it lowers the PH and adds stabilization to whipped egg whites and whipping cream. Add it to meringue to keep it from weeping. It can also be used to prevent crystallization in syrups and candies. It has anti-caking and thickening properties. You can add it to baking soda to make baking powder. And, if you don’t have this magic powder, you can substitute lemon juice or vinegar. Make sure your pantry is stocked with potassium bitartrate, otherwise known as cream of tartar. Now you know!
You will never listen to that song without thinking of this now…
