Skysketch is a 3 piece art rock band from İstanbul, Turkey. Formed in 2005. Skysketch consists of Uğur Can, Onur and Tekin. in their hometown Eskişehir.
Meeting in 2005 they formed a Punk-Rock band named K.I.S.A.L.T.M.A. They covered bands like Anti-Flag, NOFX, The Offspring, did gigs in daylight hours (since they were underage), released quite a few songs and generally lived through their high school years together with their strong friendship, fueled by a shared love of pretty much everything, but especially Japanese culture, anime, manga and mu
sic. Fast forward a couple of years, after the catastrophic effects of leaving their hometown and moving to the "Big City" İstanbul hit them like a very large, fast-swinging sledgehammer; they changed their name to Skysketch and took a vow to create loud sonic waves that would throw you against the wall. Their music followed their vow and turned into something much more sophisticated from their starting point. Guitars and bass forming a wall of sound, with highly effected, aggressive guitar style of Uğur Can (mostly influenced by Johnny Greenwood of Radiohead), combined with the high pitched vocals of Tunç (who, to this day, is still struggling to convince people he is male on the phone), backed by solid synth bass lines of Onur and choppy, grooving drum beats of Tekin. They released 3 EPs so far as Skysketch:
You Fall And The World Falls With You (2011)
Our Faces Go Blank, Pt. I (2015)
Our Faces Go Blank, Pt. II (2015)
Our Faces Go Blank, Pt. III (2015)
Right now they are working on their first full length album, which is going to be a concept album, currently evolving around a story influenced by themes and ideas from Japanese mythology and culture, as a return to their childhood and friendship.
