A menstrual cup is a feminine hygiene device which is inserted into the va**na during menstruation. Its purpose is to collect menstrual fluid (blood from uterine lining) and prevent its leaking onto clothes. Menstrual cups are usually made of flexible medical grade silicone, latex, or a thermoplastic isomer. They are shaped like a bell with a stem. The stem is used for insertion and removal. The bell-shaped cup seals against the va**nal wall just below the cervix. Every 4–12 hours (depending on the amount of flow), the cup is removed, emptied, rinsed, and reinserted. After each period, the cup requires cleaning

WEtalk Series Uganda is proud to be among the 150 organizations working in 170 countries globally for endorsing the Campaign. At the heart of the campaign's statement is the widespread agreement, for the first time, that removal of barriers to family planning is critically important not only for women and girls but also for environmental conservation and biodiversity. World Population Day started off with the Launch of the campaign's website: https://thrivingtogether.global/

Current estimates of unintended pregnancy around the world suggest that hundreds of millions of women would have fewer children and/or would begin motherhood later in their lives if they faced no barriers to their right to use safe and effective modern contraceptive methods.

Removing these barriers from lack of physical access to social disapproval is a force for environmental conservation that too few in the conservation field currently recognise or harness.

GoU in the Second National Development Plan (2016/17-2019/20) committed to supporting MHM including the provision of gender-responsive facilities, the supply of sanitary towels to girls in primary and secondary schools. Indeed, as a sector, we have registered some gains especially with the construction of gender-responsive school facilities. Our partners are equally supporting the education sector to provide sanitation facilities that put into consideration the unique needs of girls and boys, MHM education as well as the provision of sanitary towels in a number of schools. Although we have registered some gains, we still have challenges. These include; low coverage of interventions, inadequate resources, limited capacities among school managers among others.
