Save the Avalon Nightclub in Santa Clara, California
SAVE THE AVALON NIGHTCLUB BY CONTACTING THE SANTA CLARA CITY COUNCIL!
The Avalon Nightclub in Santa Clara, California is perhaps the best nightclub in the South Bay -- It has taken many years for this club to gain the momentum it has, attracting national acts from all over the world...
But for some odd reason the Santa Clara City council is beholden to the Kaiser Permanente Corporation; a corporation that owns a hospital directly across the street from the Avalon;
a hospital that got city council approval after roughly 45,000 signatures on a petition were totally ignored -- Andwhile keeping the rat infested restaurant on the same corner; as well as the new liquor store in the very same parking lot; the decision has been made to close the Avalon Nightclub...
So why would these people keep a liquor store open; while closing a premier nightclub like the Avalon? And why do cities like Los Angeles go out of their way to actually keep clubs like this open as historic landmarks due to the famous statuses of those who played there? (the Whisley etc); while leaders here in the Silicon Valley seem to be beholden to computer geeks who go to bed at 9 pm and do not know how to have fun? Why do people here in America not see that clubs like the Avalon Nightclub are actually starting grounds for fledgling acts who are part of a multi-billion dollar business; a business which is bigger than the semiconductor industry ever could be? While over in England they know the true value of art; and not only mandate art education in their public schools; but also celebrate it by sending multi-platinum act after multi-platinum act over to America; so we here in America throw gobs of money at them rather than complain about being taxed by their Queen? CONTACT THE SANTA CLARA CITY COUNCIL @ 1500 Warburton Avenue, Santa Clara, CA 95050 / Tel: (408) 615-2250 Fax: (408) 241-6771 / Email: [email protected] -- Tell them their decision to allow Kaiser to build their hospital has now ultimately led to the demise of the Avalon Nightclub...AND THAT REALLY SUCKS!
