I knew this "anniversary" was coming up so I had to search for it in my old emails.

Yep! 8 years ago today I made a decision that changed my life.

I signed up for my first color run - my first run ever, actually.

For those of you who haven't known me long or only know me as the crazy lady who post sweaty selfies and workout videos, let me introduce to the girl I was 8 years ago.

On the outside I was pretty much the same but on the inside I was NOT me.

I was tired. I was sick (on meds for nausea). I hadn't worked out consistently for 6 1/2 years. I was the queen of excuses. I lived on energy bars and diet soda. I put EVERYONE first. I didn't get enough sleep.

Bottom line, I didn't feel good or healthy like I used to.

I had started and stopped exercising countless times in that 6 1/2 years and nothing stuck.

I’m not a gym rat and exercise classes are not my thing. More than that, I hated paying gym fees or babysitters to watch my kids while I workout. I needed accountability but couldn't find it where I was (and honestly didn't really look too hard).

Then, eight years ago, my sister and I signed up for our first run together.

No going back.

We downloaded a couch to 5K app and checked in with each other daily.

It was so fun we signed up for a half marathon and checked in with each other during our training.

Later I found challenge groups where I could check with my sister AND lots of others like me who needed support and accountability while doing their home workouts.

Did I HONESTLY believe seven years ago that I will still be exercising?

Probably not but I am.

I found a system that works and continues to evolve and work as I do.

Some run. Some walk. Some swim. Some bike. Some lift. Some stretch. Some dance. Some like a group. Some go it solo. Some want to lose. Some want to gain. Some are beginners. Some are not.

The good news is wherever YOU are and whatever YOU can do is exercise.

You are moving. You are getting fit. You are getting healthy.

Find a program, a place, a method that gets you moving and DO IT!

The other day someone asked me what I weighed before I had kids.

I honestly couldn’t remember.

For those of you who just met me, that’s not a big deal but if you knew me through my 20’s and most of my 30’s THAT IS HUGE!!

For HALF of my life....let me say that again....HALF of my life this piece of 💩 told me my worth.

Good day. Bad day. Skinny day. Fat day. Happy day. Sad day.

That. Is. Ridiculous.

I’ll tell you why this scale is trapping us.

Because we all have a “magic number” we want to reach.

A wedding weight. A pre-baby weight. A teenager weight. A “skinny” weight.

Want to know something about “that” weight?

This might sting a little.

That number is NOT magic.

Once you get to that number it WILL NOT make all of your problems disappear.

It will not make you get that raise, have a perfect marriage, find the perfect guy or girl.

The truth is, it’s not about the number.

It’s about the memory and the feeling you had when you were that weight.

You felt AMAZING on your wedding day. Not because of your weight but because you were in love.

You weren’t a better person at your before-babies weight. You maybe weren’t as sleep deprived or stressed and you want to feel like that again.

Until you figure out that there is more to health and fitness than the number on the scale, you will not be happy.

There is no magical number. There is no magical size.

Life is too short to give this piece of metal so much power.

"I don't like shakes"

THIS is the statement I hear SO often when talking to people about Shakeology.

I get it.

I didn't like shakes either.

You see, the only reason I started researching Beachbody was because my husband was looking for something to get him over his plateau.

He was working out for over an hour a day, cutting back on portions, and not seeing any progress on the scale or his pants size.

Sound familiar?

He was just about to give up and said,"Find me something to take or do that doesn't take as much time."

I had NO intention of drinking a shake everyday.

I had been there, done that with shakes.

They were chalky, gritty, and I was NOT going to drink my meal everyday.

Then I looked at the nutrition label - WOW!

Then I tasted it - for real!!

I also knew hubs was NOT a fan of shakes or breakfast so whatever I was going to give him HAD to be spectacular!

If you would have told me that not only do both of us actually LIKE Shakeology but that we have both used it as a daily meal replacement for the last SIX YEARS, I would have laughed in your face!

I hated shakes before this!

I invite anyone else who hates shakes to give it a try. All shakes are NOT created equal so if you've had a bad experience with them in the past, don't discount them all.

As they say, don't knock it until you try it.

I'm SO glad I opened my mind enough to at least give it a shot. My whole family has benefitted from our decision!

I can’t decide if today feels like Christmas morning OR the start of volleyball season

Today a group of AMAZING women and I press play on a BRAND NEW fitness and nutrition program for the next four weeks.

We’re going to check in with each other each day. Talk about what we ❤️ about it and what we don’t love. Share recipes, tips to make the hard days easier and overall SUPPORT each other.

This community we’ve built in the last seven years (yes, some have been with me that long) is what I NEED to meet my goals and PROSPER in 2022.

Do you need it, too?

To be honest, it’s not the ham, rolls, potatoes, or dip that get me in “trouble” this time of year. ⁣

It’s these little babies. ⁣

Give me ALL the iced cookies. ⁣

All. Of. Them. ⁣

I’ve had my fair share the last few weeks but now we are down to our last few and 🤷🏼‍♀️⁣

Here’s what I’ve learned about this season. ⁣

Hold on because this took me YEARS (okay DECADES) to learn. ⁣

Food doesn’t have a moral value. ⁣

Foods are NOT good and bad. ⁣

You do not have to punish yourself for eating. ⁣

You are not a dog and therefore don’t get treats only if you are good. ⁣

You do not have to starve yourself for eating. ⁣

You are not bad when you eat sweets. ⁣

You are not good only when you eat healthy foods. ⁣

One workout isn’t going to get you into better shape. ⁣

Skipping a workout is not going to undo the other workouts. ⁣

A lot of you need to hear this because we are in that time of year where the diet industry is making us feel like we are bad for eating food. ⁣

Can I challenge you to do something on this last day of 2021?

Can I challenge you to think of food as fuel in 2022 ?

Can I challenge you to not give it a moral value?⁣

Can I challenge you, instead, to have a sugar cookie and move on with your day and not let it ruin it?⁣

Can 2022  FINALLY be the year you have a good relationship with food and a healthy lifestyle?⁣

I think it can ❤️⁣

It's hard to start something new when you're thinking it might be another failure.

You've started workouts before.....and stopped.

You've signed up for races thinking that would be the motivation you needed.....and didn't run them.

You've waited until the next Monday, or month, or year to start taking care of yourself....and here it is another Wednesday and, nothing.

How do I know you?

Because I WAS you!

For 6 1/2 years I started and stopped exercising more times than I can count. I just couldn't keep going. I didn't have accountability.

That was the key.

I needed someone (or lots of someones) to push me, motivate me, and make me do it!

That's what challenge groups are ALL about!

For the whole year of 2021, I've had people pushing me to keep it up, even when I REALLY didn't want to.

Do you need a push? Do you need accountability to get you to your goals?

I have a group starting after the holidays to help you make 2022 your best and healthiest year yet!

Did you know the reason I even thought to look into Beachbody was because of my husband??

He's not a Facebook fan, doesn't post sweaty selfies, or make videos SO I'll just have to tell you his amazing story.

Prior to Beachbody, he skipped breakfast, sometimes skipped lunch, and ate dinner with us or on the run (his job is crazy bananas).

He was exercising but he was having to workout 1 1/2 hours daily to make progress. P.S. He doesn't have 1 1/2 hours to exercise - who does?

Several years ago, he was threatened with blood pressure meds and headed that way.

He was frustrated that his workouts were getting longer and results were getting less noticeable.

He said,"you have to find something for me to take or do because this is getting old."

Of course, I mentioned beachbody and the workouts and the shakes.

He gave me the same response that most people do when they first hear about it.

✅Sounds expensive for a protein shake (it's not a protein shake, it is meant to replace a whole meal or snack depending on your needs)
✅What happens when I quit them? (Hmmmm....he's been drinking them every morning for over 7 years so I guess that answered that one)
✅The workouts look crazy (there's a modifier in all workouts)
✅At-home workouts are so boring. Again, still going.

The transformation is this, he's stuck with it, worked out because he's seeing results he never had before, and now has normal to LOW blood pressure!!!!

I am SO super proud of the progress he's made in 7 years but I'm most excited that he decided to take charge of his health, committed to workouts and daily Shakeology, and succeed in improving his health!

✅Don’t have to find anything for anyone

✅Can listen to Motley Crue as loudly as I want

✅Don’t have to worry about schedules

✅Can drown out the negativity

✅Don’t think about my to do list

✅Can punch, jump, run, scream it all out

✅Don’t have to answer to anyone

✅Can have a moment for ME

Look, I can’t give you a lot of peace and stress-free time right now, but I can give you 20 minutes.

I’m only on day 4 of this new program and I’m finding the moves, the playlist, the nutrition guidance, and the trainer is giving me the 20 minutes I NEED to feel BETTER!!

Do need 20 minutes, too?

Taters, rolls, pie, oh my!!

That's what my weekend looked like but I wasn't carb loading for anything 😳

The thing about the holidays is that it's usually just one or two days.

One or two days where you don't eat 💯 but you move on with your life when it's over and get back to routine.

Or...........

You say,"It's the holidays!" Throw your hands in the air and gain a few, feel like crap, add guilt to holiday stress, and go on some ridiculous fad diet on January 1. 😒

How about THIS holiday season we pick ourselves up by the bootstraps and get moving and eat healthier during the holidays (sans your MILs pecan pie and grandmas homemade noodles)!?

I have room in my holiday challenge and the more the merrier to help each stay accountable during the eating season!

I hate failing. I hate to admit that I didn't meet my BIG SCARY goal this week.

But....you can't win them all, right?

I had a little pity party for myself when I realized I didn't hit my goal and then I got over it pretty quickly when I shifted my focus.

Instead of thinking about what I DIDN'T accomplish this year, I started counting.

I counted 165 NEW people I've helped on their health and fitness journey so far in 2021!

165!

How can I think I've failed when I've helped that many people?

I've made it my mission to help 200 people this year so I have to find 35 more people in 6 weeks!

"I could never do what you do.."

Huh? It’s amazing to me that we're programmed in our society to work at one job, 40-50 hours a week, 40+ years until retirement, with minimal raises here and there and only 6-8 weeks of maternity leave per year (unpaid after that). But the thought of working an online, home business for a couple of years so that you can spend more time with your family, help your spouse pay for his advanced degree, have the opportunity to take time off when needed, and get monthly raises is 'FOOLISH, HARD, and UNHEARD of.' (sometimes even ridiculed- my favorite)

I'm not exaggerating when I say this business has been built from my phone or laptop in my yoga pants, usually with unwashed hair.

Be open-minded. We live in an increasingly tech driven world. I think in another 5-10 years you'll look back and wish you would've tried.

Maybe what I do IS hard. But it's worked for me. And it's working for the busy coaches on my team. I'm just an ordinary gal, no background in marketing and sales..creating a full-time income from her laptop and phone. Who wouldn't want to do this?

October 1.

This date always makes me reflect on October 1, 2014.

That’s the day I almost quit.

Looking back on it, I almost quit before I really got started.

I had been a coach for a month and two days.

I hadn’t met any new coach goals. I was watching other new coaches having success and UGH I was NOT one of them.

“I’m just going to quit. I gave it a try. I’m just not cut out for this.”

Good thing I decided to NOT give up.

IF I would have quit I would NOT still be working out regularly. That’s a fact. At-home workouts have literally saved my life.

IF I would have quit I would not have replaced my dietitian income with working from home.

IF I would have quit I would not still be eating 80/20 and have a healthy relationship with food. Lordy, I’d still probably be counting calories and macros on my app 🤦🏼‍♀️

IF I had quit I wouldn’t have taken my husband on our “floated” 15th anniversary trip to Mexico this past summer.

IF I had quit I wouldn’t have met the 100s of people who have pushed ME every day and truly been my fit tribe!

One month and one day wasn’t even a blip on the radar to see what was possible with this opportunity.

I’m SO thankful that I didn’t quit, that I kept on going, have evolved with the company and am seeing the benefits in every aspect of my life.

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve been in a bike ride.

Yep! This picture is about the last time!

Back then we had LOTS of room to ride, some hills, some flat terrain, and the cutest little biking partners.

The truth is, I’ve loved to bike for most of my life. I learned when I was five from my bestie, made the country roads my “highway” and met up with friends, took spin classes in college and after, then road with my babies.

Today, I’m getting back on the bike…..sort of.

Our company is launching not only a bike I can use at home but a whole new set of classes I can take on MY time and get the results and FUN I use to!

Friend, why are you comparing YOUR Chapter 1 to HER Chapter 12?

Quit. It.

Whether it’s the paycheck, the relationship, the fitness level, the career, you two aren’t in the same place so why are you stressing every time she shows up in your life?

It’s not fair to either of you, really.

It’s not fair to her because you just chimed in on her life when it was in place.

You didn’t see her struggle through college, almost get divorced, suffer through post-partum depression, get passed over for promotions, lose sleep working on herself, have three crockpots going every Sunday to meal prep.

You didn’t see her Chapters 1-11 so stop looking at her end product and thinking it wasn’t WORK.

It’s not fair to you because you ARE on Chapter 1. Or maybe you haven’t even opened the book.

You’re struggling just to figure out where your career is going, hustling during lunch to get an edge, starting to run for the FIRST TIME EVER, finding one food that picky child will eat.

Friend, you want to do yourself a favor?

Stop looking at the Chapter 12 pictures and focus on YOUR story.

Focus on one chapter, one page at a time.

YOUR story is magic and I’m here for it.

“I just don’t want to be on my phone all the time.”

I hear this a lot as a reason not to coach.

Here’s the deal.

If you’re on your phone constantly as a coach, you’d probably be on your phone constantly anyway🤷🏼‍♀️

We actually have a well-oiled machine system, including exactly what to do the first 100 days of your business, so that you do your business and get off your phone.

Personally, here’s how I streamline my process.

✅I schedule all of my posts for my wellness groups and do them in one day. Chill, the company has guides for us so it’s copy and paste if you want.

✅I share my journey first thing in the morning. Inspiration comes during the day so I may jot down some notes but I’m not posting all day long.

✅I post in my group for accountability, wouldn’t still be working out consistently if I didn’t so that’s not really a coach thing.

✅I complete my tracker in the pockets of time I have and since it’s digital I’m not constantly answering questions or checking my phone because, again, I use the tracker. The tracker has timers, too 😉

IF I get on my phone, start scrolling, looking at other coaches, read articles that someone posted, see what so-and-so is doing, look at stories for 20 minutes, scroll, scroll, scroll, then……yeah…….coaching would seem like I’m on my phone all day.

But that’s not working, that’s just social media 🤷🏼‍♀️

My goal this month is to add 20 women to our team and teach them how to work WITHOUT being tied to their phone.

If you’re working out, improving your nutrition, and have your phone in your hand (like you do right now), wouldn’t it make sense to get paid, too? 🤔

I may not remember what I had for dinner last night but I know EXACTLY what I was thinking 7 years ago tonight 😳

I was about to hit the "submit" button.

You know the one where you have to think twice before you actually purchase something?

Well, I didn't think twice. I thought 10,000 times about it over 4 months. 😁

I had EVERY thought running through my mind like:
✅Will this work?
✅Will everyone think this is dumb?
✅Will I actually stick with it?
✅I am NOT sharing my sweaty selfies (HAHAHAHA)
✅What if I fail?
✅What if I succeed?
✅What if this can help me stay home with the boys?
✅What if I actually make money doing this?
✅Will Ty drink the shakes?
✅Will Ty do the workouts with me?
✅How can I use this to help people?
✅How can I work a business with my schedule?
✅Will I be able to keep up my workout schedule and do the programs?
✅Will I have a team to lead?
✅How do I run a challenge group?

See?

LOTS OF QUESTIONS!!

Seven years ago, I was scared, anxious, excited, and hopeful all at the same time. I really had NO idea what was in store with this "beachbody thing" and I'm glad I didn't.

I didn't know that I would reconnect with old friends or friends of friends and they would become my strongest team members. 😍

I didn't know that my old roommate would be in my challenge group and one of my most loyal clients. 🙌

I didn't know that my husband and I would get in the best shape of our lives and NOT QUIT!!!!💪

I didn't know that I would pour my heart and soul into something like this. ❤️

I didn't know that I would truly open up and tell my story on social media. 😊

I didn't know that my kids would see my husband and I working out and want to join us. 💪

I look back on the past seven years and it hasn't always been easy and there's so much more that I want to do.

It's not a phase, fad, or trendy.

It's how I've stayed on track the past seven years and hundreds (maybe thousands by this point) have joined me in the process!

I have been using at-home workouts for a LONG time!

We're talking The Firm and Tony Little on VHS, a long time!

Back then, I used them because I didn't have a gym nearby and it was an easy alternative.

But, like most at-home workouts, mine collected dust or were given away to thrift stores or garage sales!

Sound familiar?

So, why have I stuck with at home workouts THIS time and have for almost 7 years now?
What makes this time different?

CHALLENGE GROUPS!

When you are in a challenge group, you are in a group with others who are also working towards their health and fitness goals. You check in when you complete a workout, you share recipes, you motivate each other to push on the days just don't want to push play.

If it weren't for challenge groups, I guarantee I would not be on my 20th program.

Do you need motivation and accountability from others to stick with a program?

“I can’t sew but I can hot glue and duct tape!”

This was my response when I was asked to help with costumes for Oliver!

The truth is, I DID get to hot glue but I also had fun meeting the cast, running around, doing the “little things,” and being part of the group (but not too much of the group, I’m not a cool mom 😉).

There’s still ONE more show not sold out so if you don’t have a ticket yet, get one!

Seven years ago I was contemplating starting up a business where I could help people get healthier and stay accountable to my own fitness journey.

I would get a discount on products.

I would make money.

I would work from my phone and computer in the cracks of time I had in the day.

There was no inventory to buy.

A website was provided for me.

All the training was free.

I didn’t have to have a certain number of clients each month.

EVERYTHING seemed good about this opportunity except........it was network marketing/MLM.

You know what I’m talking about.

You buy a bunch of product. Beg your family and friends to buy it so maybe 🤞🏻 you’ll make a profit.

Then beg your family and friends to be on your team so maybe 🤞🏻 you’ll make a profit.

You have to buy a “minimum” order just to get a discount.

You get told to, “fake it ‘til you make it.”

Yep.......that’s why I was 99.9% SURE I was NOT going to do this.

But......have you met me?

What about that stupid 0.01% that was burning a hole in my brain?

Keeping me up at night thinking, “What if?”

Fast forward seven years later, I don’t regret hitting the “submit” button.

Not ONCE have I had to store inventory so I could keep my discount.

Not ONCE have I had to beg my family to buy stuff or join my team. P.S. No one in my family is even on my team!

Not ONCE have I had to fake it.

Not ONCE have I talked about something I don’t believe in or do myself.

Not ONCE have I felt slimy.

Not ONCE have I regretted saying yes to the sweaty selfies and shake pics.

I believe 110% in the products I use and help others use.

I believe 110% in people using them to get LASTING results (7 years in is not a fad).

Most of all, I believe 110% if you are still reading this it’s because you’ve seen what I do and wondered if it’s for you, too.

This month, we look to take even more new coaches under our wing to mentor them to success.

Not to be salesy, or fake, or cookie cutters.

I start my new coach training tomorrow and I’m looking for 10 women who are hard workers and believe they CAN make a difference and WILL!

If you continuously compete with others, you become bitter, but if you continuously compete with yourself, you become better.

My word for this year is PROSPER but I realized a few months ago the ONLY way I was going to prosper in my business, health, relationships, and finances was to put the blinders on and be MY best.

I was no longer going to compete with others (which, honestly, was VERY difficult for me) but I was going to compete with myself.

Improve my self-care, be intentional with my time, read more, give more, work smarter, PROSPER within myself.

Today I woke up to the milestone of beating my best streak of what we call “Success Club” in our business. “SC,” for short, means in that month you’ve helped a certain amount of people start their health and fitness journey. You’ve helped them in your groups. You’ve helped them get results. YOU have helped THEM prosper.

I could have looked around at the very large numbers some coaches produce and felt defeated and bitter.

Instead, I looked at myself and got better.

I prospered.
