"Where No One Has Gone Before: The Veil Nebula"
Made from over 17,000 rings in over 20 different colors!

This was one of my first experiments with this long, narrow style. I love it - I think it works incredibly well visually, and it really gives a sense of scale to the piece. And of course - incredibly tactile! (See the last image)

I'm currently working on another piece in the same long-and-narrow vein, and I'm really excited for it. This one is going to be my largest yet - over 24,000 rings, and over 40 inches long! As always, check out my Patreon to see how it's going, and join me for livestreams and chats!

Finally - this piece, my other spaceship+nebula piece, plus more I haven't posted yet will all be on display at Boskone, so be sure to come by if you're in the Boston area!

"A Cat Named Magnesium" won the Director's Choice award at the Arisia art show!

I'm honored, and so so grateful to the Arisia art show staff and directors. Arisia has been my favorite convention for a long time, and just getting to display my work alongside the other incredible artists there was the sort of thing my younger self could scarcely dream of. To get this kind of response and recognition absolutely blows me away.

Thank you, Arisia!

Hi all! I've got two exciting updates to share!

First of all: I just launched a Patreon! Check the linktr.ee in my bio for the link!

The first tier gets you access to my blog, where I'll be posting work-in-progress pictures, explanations of how/why I do some of what I do, behind the scenes goings-on, and various other tidbits - the fun, the difficult, and the interesting!

The second tier gets you into a private Discord server where I'll be hosting livestreams, making mock-ups, answering questions, taking polls, and chatting! There will also be a couple of channels geared towards encouraging each other and being productive in the things that matter to you.

At the third tier, you start getting pieces of maille from me a few times a year. As some of you know, I used to focus on jewelry, fidget toys, and other small pieces, and this is a chance for me to keep doing a bit of that and for you to get some cool maille!

AND, no matter what tier you join, some of your membership fees will be saved for use towards a future piece!

The idea for this has been turning over in my head for a long time now, and I'm thrilled to finally have it all up and running.

Second bit of news: I'll be displaying some of my work at the Arisia science fiction convention next weekend, here in Boston! There will be *two* new pieces there I haven't posted publicly yet - though one of them is already up on my Patreon, if you want to check that out 😊

I'll have a 4x4' panel, new mounts for my work, and new business cards, and I'll be displaying alongside dozens of other incredible artists.

If you can't make it, don't worry - I'll be posting more during and after the con.

So - it's been a busy couple of months, and I'm not slowing down any time soon! Hope to see you over at Patreon & Arisia!

17,500 rings in 20 different colors!

How are you all doing? It's been a minute! I've been recovering from a wrist injury, but I'm doing well and finally back at it.

This is my largest piece yet, and I'm excited to say it's one of a series of three I'm aiming to have ready for the Arisia art show - maybe with a couple other new on-theme pieces alongside them, and perhaps the reappearance of a certain alien singer from years past?

Allonz-y!

The king of rock n' roll, Elvis Presley, made out of 7,884 small metal rings!

I started this portrait earlier last year, but had to stop to work on commissions and finish a nearly year-long moving process. I didn't even have a usable workspace for a couple months! I can't tell you how antsy I was to get going again. But we're finally settled into our new home, and I'm all caught up, so I'm thrilled to finally be able to show you this one!

Final piece is roughly 9.5" by 16".

14,520 rings in 15 colors!

I've always loved eyes, and I wanted to challenge myself with this piece - the largest I've made yet. 25 days later, this is the result!

This commission was so much fun to make! My customer wanted to surprise their spouse with some art based on their 200 year old cello, and the whole process - brainstorming ideas, narrowing it down, making some final edits, and getting the work done - was a blast. I got to experiment with some new shapes, too! This hanging is almost 20" long, and only 3-4" wide - the sort of thing which can fit almost anywhere. I've been itching for a chance to do more long-and-narrow pieces, and this was a great one!

Brian May, then and now
Made from 6,300 rings, in 15 colors!

This is probably one of the more personal pieces I've done. It's inspired by Brian May's new music video for Back To The Light - The Time Traveler (a beautifully edited piece everyone should watch!) I've wished for years I could go back in time, visit younger-me, and offer him support, guidance, or just comfort - so seeing something like that in this video, paired with this particular song, made me tear up the first time I saw it. This piece is both about celebrating an incredible musician, and my own journey Back To The Light 💙

A chain maille tribute to Klaus Nomi, alien from the planet Nomi. A countertenor with the voice of an angel and a musical style which somehow combined disco, opera, rock, and new wave - and made it sound incredible.

And yes, his hair really did look like that.

6,000+ rings, one cat.
This is Maggie - we found her trapped in an abandoned car in May, and took care of her over the summer. The photo this piece is based on was taken early in her time with us, when she was about seven months old. I loved making this portrait of her, and I'm happy to have something we can hold onto for many years to come 💜

Made with over 6,000 individual colored aluminum rings!

Freddie Mercury was an absolute legend - one of the most incredible voices to ever grace music. Most of my favorite music is punk or metal, but I absolutely love Queen and I wanted to make a wall hanging which maybe captured a bit of Freddie's love for what he did and for everyone around him. The background is a subtle pink-blue gradient which just so happens to resemble the bisexual flag as well 😉 Tell me what you think! How'd it come out?

How are you all? It's been a while! Here's my latest piece - made, as always, from hundreds (in this case, thousands) of tiny metal rings!

During the pandemic, I decided to set jewelry aside for a time and take a deep dive into inlay work again. Reproducing the cover of one of my favorite EPs (OWOWOWOWOWOWOW by ) as a new backpatch for my vest was a fantastic challenge, and it came out so well I immediately had to start some more projects. Keep an eye out for those in the coming months, and let me know - would you all like to see progress pictures as I go, or should I stick to just posting the final pieces?

(I still do jewelry too, never fear - my commissions are always open, and I have some new pieces I'm excited to post down the line!)
