One of my favorite remedies in the winter for either boosting the immune system, treating cough or a vitamin C source are the pine tree needles. This is one of the best resource for Vit C!!!
In the spring when needles are fresh and bright green you can prepare syrup for the next winter but now if you or your loved ones are coughing, if you feel you are taking the flu direction, you want to make yourself the pine needles tea. Find a pine tree that is at least 50 ft away from the road, cut a bunch of needles right before the brown tip that is connecting two needles together. Find those needles that looks fresh, not old. Cut them into 2-3cm (about 1 inch) pieces and place them in a pot. For every one cup of cut needles, add two cups of water. Bring to boil and let it boil on low heat for about 5 minutes. You want the water to be brownish color. Strain in to a cap, add honey and drink. I saw miracles with this tea. It will sooth cough or make it more effective. That is off course better is you also avoid dairy, sugar, red meat, peanuts, bananas - all of which creating mucus in our bodies.
In the spring find the fresh needles, cut them the same way and place in a jar, cover with honey and let it seat for few months, You get wonderful syrup for the winter...
Always remember to thank the tree for giving you its needles...
Good luck and stay warm!!
Here is a medicinal herbs and natural healing story or - how did I heal a strep throat within 2 days without antibiotics: on Thursday I knew it. My left tonsil was already inflamed and hurt, my body got weak and soon I found myself in bed, resting, starting to take care of myself. Today, Sat, I can still feel little sensitivity in my throat and swallowing is still not totally smooth but idontfeelsick any more, I am functioning and even worked intently today. I am back to myself. So here is what I did :
1. Rest. For those two days I went out of bed as minimu as possible. In bed I was covered well enough to sweat.
2. I didn't eat lost nothing, I was drinking a lot, either distiller water or tea maid of Mullein and Lobelia. Mullein because it is a glands herb. It will activate the stiles gland for action. Lobelia is a thinking herb that will enhance the mullein action.
3. I took herbal tinctures: Echinasea, golden seal root, and astragalus - all those to strengthen the immune system and to fight the infection. I took also Mullein tincture to help activate the gland. I took Turmeric capsules as turmeric is one of the best anti viral/ Bactria herb and I made an excellent Strep remedy, based on Dr. Christopher's recipe with one little change. The recipe takes about 6-7 cloves of garlic mixed with honey and cayenne pepper. I like it smooth and without the garlic have chunks (you can smash the garlic I you can take it) so I added some distiller water and put it all in the vitamin. I got like a syrup which I took every few hours.
4. I sweat all Thursday and Friday nights. While drinking a lot of water to keep myself hydrated.
5. I did a lot of refloxology on the neck/ throat area. As muchasi could.
5. I did not cook for the kids, cleaned the house or helped my husband. I rested, did I mention that? 😃
6. I took very hot showers.
7. I drunk wheat grass juice and I took liquid chlorophyll. This is to add oxygen to my system and to balance the PH. Infection can not exist in oxygenated area and this is what the greens bring to our blood.
8. Today when I felt already little better I felt like having teamadeoffresh lemon and honey. I boil the water then cool it off until warm and only then I add the lemon and honey, to keep their properties. Heat will kill it.
I didn't have it if but if I had, I would bath in hot tub with yarrow and drink yarrow tea. Yarrow helps With perspiration and sweating is one of the cleanses methods that the body has. It could have enhance the sweating process but I didn't have it. The cayenne pepper I took though felt like warming my body temperature which helped the sweating too and that felt good.
Two days and I am back to myself.
If we do the right things for the body, it takes care of itself. The idea is to cleanse and nourish. I admit that I got into it when my body is pretty clean and was ready to fight the disease faster by that, because it didnt need to deal with the cleanse so much but rather with the healing.
These amazing herbs, friends, are there to help us heal when we need them.
There is an alternative to antibiotics. We just need to use it.
Stay healthy and strong...

Plantain is so good to heal any infection from wounds as well as bites. my daughter got injured in her palm. It happen in FL while I am at home in TX and there were 10 days before she came back home. I could only guide her through the phone while she was away and the stitches were taken out a day before her return. When she came home there was some infection there. Before using the comfrey to heal the tissues i had to take care of the infection. I took fresh plantain leaves from the yard, smooshed them and broke them so the juice will come out. Placed it on the infected area and healed the infection went away within few hours. then started to treat with the comfrey. Oh blessed comfrey... I will put pictures of the healing process soon, when we will be done with it.
