Henri Marie Coandă (Bucharest, June 7, 1886 - Bucharest, 25 November 1972) - was a Romanian engineer, academician and scientist. He was among the pioneers of modern aerodynamics. In 1910 he introduced the first jet aircraft (only 7 years after the first flight of the Wright brothers) thus giving birth to the first plane with jet engine in the history of aeronautics. Henri Coandă is also famous for the discovery of the Coanda effect, an important fluid dynamics phenomenon . - - - Scienziato,accademico e ingegnere rumeno. Fu tra i pionieri dell'aerodinamica moderna. Nel 1910 presentò il primo aereo a getto (solo 7 anni dopo il primo volo dei fratelli Wright) dando così vita al primo aereo con motoreattore della storia dell'aeronautica. Henri Coandă è inoltre famoso per la scoperta del effetto Coandă, un importante fenomeno fluidodinamico. - - - Om de știință, academician și inginer român. El a fost printre pionierii aerodinamicii moderne. În 1910 el a prezentat primul avion cu reacție (doar 7 ani de la primul zbor al fraților Wright), dând astfel naștere la primul avion cu motor cu reactie din istoria aeronauticii. Henri Coandă este, de asemenea, renumit pentru descoperirea efectului Coandă, un important fenomen de dinamica a fluidelor.

Law-Racoviță Station Antarctica (Staţia Law-Racoviţă) is the first permanent Romanian station for research and exploration in Antarctica, named after the Romanian explorer Emil Racoviță and inaugurated on January 13, 2006 at the location of a station constructed in 1986 by Australia and donated to Romania. The station may be found in Princess Elizabeth Land, in the Larsemann Hills, 2 kilometers away from China's Antarctic Zhongshan Station.
