More than 1000 pilgrims died due to extreme heat during Hajj in Saudi Arabia, according to AFP.

The deceased include 323 Egyptians, about 60 from Jordan, and 35 from Tunisia. They had come to perform the pilgrimage to Mecca and Medina.

Major causes of death were crush incidents, tent fires, and heat-related accidents. Temperatures in Mecca's main mosque reached +51°C this week.

Videos have emerged showing unattended bodies on the streets, highlighting the crisis. Authorities are working to support affected families and manage the situation.

Nine people died and more than 30 others were injured after a Kanchanjunga Express was hit by a goods train from behind in Bengal's Siliguri. The impact of the collision caused at least two coaches to derail, with one of them suspending in the air as a result.

Kanchanjunga Express, West Bengal Train Accident Live Updates: Eight people were killed and at least 60 injured when the Sealdah-bound Kanchanjunga Express collided with a goods train near New Jalpaiguri station in West Bengal. The collision occurred near Rangapani station, approximately seven kilometers from New Jalpaiguri, causing two rear compartments to derail. On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs. 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the next of kin of each deceased in the railway mishap. The injured will receive Rs. 50,000. President Droupadi Murmu extended her condolences and prayers to the bereaved families and wished the injured a swift recovery.
