Time to weave some fun into those pearly whites! Once your little one's got a duo of teeth making friends, it's flossing time! At the start, you'll be the flossing superhero, but fear not, soon they'll be taking over around the age of 10 or 11, when their hands are big enough to handle floss like a boss!

Early Orthodontic Check-Ups: Why They Matter!
π¦·πͺ₯
The AAO suggests children see an orthodontist by age 7 or at the first sign of an orthodontic concern. This early assessment, typically when baby and permanent teeth are both present, provides crucial insights for potential treatment. If issues are detected or emerging, the orthodontist can recommend suitable interventions, timing, and duration. Don't wait until 7; if you spot any concerns before then, seek an orthodontic evaluation promptly.

Go Toothbrush Shopping π¦·
Whether a princess or superhero, have your toddler pick their favorite colorful character on a soft-bristled toothbrush. Choose a fluoride toothpaste- bubblegum is our favorite!
Set the Stage π¦
You've got the tools. Next, it's creating a time (2 per day) and routine to utilize them in a way that your little one will find inviting. Find their sweet spots whether it's after breakfast for before bed where your little is most likely to follow your lead to the sink. Use a toothbrush chart as a way to teach your child responsibility and accountability in a fun, interactive way.
Get Brushing! π
Apply their favorite toothpaste to their toothbrush. If they are under 3, use a grain of rice size dot. If they're 3-6, use a pea sized amount. Find a comfortable position for your child (stepstool, counter or your lap). Start by brushing the backsides of their teeth, and then the front. Remember to keep the toothbrush at a 45-degree angle toward the gumline in a back-and-forth motion. Next, move onto the chewing surfaces of the teeth. Make time for them to rinse, go at their speed! Lastly, congratulate them!
