Mama.

Mama, I'm sorry. I've been neglecting you, not through "want" so much, but through passive ignorance, encouraged by a society that thinks more towards the quick and easy.

Once I left your arms, I was taught to reach for those things; "this way", "these ideas", and got less acquainted with you over time. My choices became the social choices current to the day, and my speech became the speech of all those who succumb to the numbness of so many who take comfort in the words, but not so much the action - "Happy Earth Day!", "Don't Pollute!" :) ...

I'm so sorry, mama. I know I'm hurting you. Please believe me, I don't mean to, I just haven't felt as close a connection to you, like you, to me - but I want to!

If you'll give me a chance, please just one last chance, I will do everything I can to make our relationship better. I will love you more than I love the ease of societal norms and technological creation without a clear, clean recyclable pathway in place. Even if I need to work that out on my own. With no help.

I know I can do it - I'm part of you, mama. :)

And we are resilient with love and care and harmony. I love you, Mother Earth.

- me

This afternoon, Doug from my office attended the Lackawanna County news event on the Property Tax Rent Rebate expansion during the Senior Fair. As you may recall, the senior property tax rent rebate has been expanded to capture more eligible applicants and provide higher rebates to seniors.

My office files hundreds of rebates for constituents every year. This law increases the income limits to $45,000 and the maximum rebate is increased to $1,000 for seniors age 65 and older, individuals on permanent disability, and widow or widower age 50-64. For questions on eligibility or this program, please contact my office!
