On this International , we celebrate the transformative power of girls in advocating for justice and equality. This year’s theme, “Girls’ vision for the future,” highlights the importance of empowering young women in all areas, as many still face discrimination and violence that threaten their well-being and empowerment.
Did you know that nurses are three times more likely to experience violence in the workplace than other health professionals?
This , we’re joining the WHO and partners to highlight how such environments, especially for women and marginalized groups, can severely impact mental well-being. Everyone deserves a safe and respectful workplace.
WHO's PRSEAH (Prevention and Response to Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment) Accountability Framework is a critical step toward real accountability, ensuring that when harm occurs, survivors are supported and those responsible face consequences.
Let’s commit to building workplaces that prioritize mental health, safety, and accountability. Read the full WHO report to learn more👇

📣 This International Equal Pay Day, Women in Global Health calls for urgent action to close the gender pay gap in health.
Women like Maria, a nurse from Mexico, work in temporary, underpaid roles—contributing to a pay gap that sees women earning 24% less than men in the sector. Globally, women provide over $3 trillion in health work annually, with half of it unpaid.
It's time to recognize and fairly compensate the women who form the backbone of our health systems. Let's build more equitable, resilient health systems that leave no one behind.

🌍 Breaking Barriers: What global health means for women leaders at UNGA 79 🌍
We are proud to showcase the leadership of Dr. Shubha Nagesh as one of the delegates representing Women in Global Health at UNGA 79 in New York. Dr. Nagesh's journey from a modest hill state in India to the global stage reflects the powerful voices of women who are often underrepresented in decision-making spaces.
Dr. Nagesh will amplify the message that gender equality is essential to achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC). With women making up 67% of the global health workforce but holding only 25% of senior leadership roles, gender-responsive health systems are critical to delivering health for all. She will push for national governments to address gender pay gaps, ensure bodily autonomy for women and girls, and include sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) as key elements of health services.
As we face global risks like climate change, conflict, and economic instability, Dr. Nagesh will call for urgent multilateral action that places women’s rights and gender equality at the heart of global health strategies.

We stand with her in the fight for inclusive, equitable health systems that meet the needs of every woman. 💪

Although sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment of women health workers appear to be universal, legal frameworks, cultures & socio-economic contexts vary widely.
The report highlights the critical points that should be addressed in all contexts.

Certain groups of women are at higher risk of SEAH in health due to unequal power dynamics ⚖️
