Thai food caterer Brooklyn based Monurai Bhakdina ( Mony) was born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand. Every meal that she made was flavorful and traditional.
Growing up, she watched her grandmother cook everyday at home. Starting in her twenties, her grandmother was a chef for Thai royalty in Chiang Mai. Grandmother really put her heart into her cooking. She was the inspiration for Monurai to start cooking. Monurai began her journey when Smorgasburg, one of the biggest food markets in the United States, gave her an opportunity to be a vendor. She quit
her job as a graphic designer to focus on her new career as a chef and entrepreneur. Queen Cobra Thai opened at Smorgasburg in the fall of 2012 were she specializes in Thai homestyle cooking and inspired by family recipes. She is one of a few Thai food vendors who does pop-ups all over New York City. From venues like Central Park Summer Stage, Skylight at the Moynihan Station, Coney Island Art Wall and Brooklyn Public Library. The experience of pop-ups reminds her of home in Thailand, where she grew up eating from street food carts. Monurai and Queen Cobra Thai's mission is to bring these same memories of sights, smells and tastes from the sidewalks of Thailand to the streets of New York. You can find her at her kitchen in Brooklyn. She could be catering lunch to hundreds of hungry employees at a startup in Midtown or preparing a tasting dinner for twelve in SoHo. Reach out to Monurai when you are ready for the true Thai experience.
