We've been getting a few more updates from the team over the last few days. Now on day 8, the team are all in good spirits, feeling positive and are making good progress. Skipper Chris said: "It’s really great to hear that everyone is so engaged with the race, it’s an honour to have such a great team behind us."
After some bad weather in the first couple of days of the race that slowed all teams down, they have had fairly calm conditions with little wind to push them on. They are hoping for a nice strong breeze behind them to push them on more quickly.
They have had seasickness and a few aches, pains and minor injuries as expected, which are getting better now. Matt has been tending to any blisters and Sam and Will have been keeping the jokes and giggles going! Their snacks are also turning out to be a great morale booster, with malt loaf being the current favourite.
We've got a video tour of the boat by Kevin from day 1 on the race for you to watch this week!
Race day sponsor Lankelma Ltd had their call with the team from the mid-Atlantic yesterday. Their CEO, a keen sailor who will sail across the Atlantic from La Gomera this winter, said “Good luck guys and see you on the other side!"
We'd also like to thank Totalmobile UK, our Gold Partner, for their continued support throughout the race. We know they are closely following the journey!

Boat inspection
We're all looking forward to our Atlantic rowing challege in just two and a half months! There are a lot of formalities to go through in order to prepare for the challenge, including an inspection of our rowing boat. See an update from Kevin Gaskell in the video!
We're delighted to welcome aboard our new sponsors, including one of our new 250 club members, Nina Wilson! You can join the club through our website.
We're excited for our race, starting in December in La Gomera, and hope you'll follow our journey.

Last weekend was a brutal taste of what the real row will be like. The team launched at midday on Saturday from Lymington and rowed for 24 hours and 47 minutes. They managed to get all the way down through the Solent to Selsey Bill and back. Rowing 90 kilometres! Due to the nature of rowing in inshore waters we had to maintain a lookout at all times, this meant each crew member got about 2 hours of sleep and spent about 17 hours rowing. Experiences like this give you a greater respect for the rowers who have completed the challenge and have inspired the team to go even harder in their training to be able to smash the Atlantic in 4 months time! Make sure you're following the team across our social media, give this Post A Like and a Share to help get our message out. #theocean5 #plasticsoup #rowingtheAtlantic
Message from Sam
We're really looking forward to rowing around Southampton Water tomorrow! Unfortunately Sam Coxon is in Cornwall and can't make it, so here's a video message from him.
Look out for our next update on our row!

We had planned to go out to sea last week but unfortunately the weather was too poor. We're planning to head out again tomorrow but, in the mean time, have a look around our boat with our latest video.

The Ocean5 Boat Tour
Last weekend, the team spent the long weekend rowing on the Solent from Lymington.
After the electrical fit out of the boat, there was a lot to learn! You find out more in the video, including how the Ocean5 will charge their phones when rowing! This video is made with thanks to VYKA.
There was also a lot to learn about how to launch the boat without getting a wetsuit on!
The Ocean5 learnt a lot on their long weekend on the water and are pleased to share this video with a tour around the boat.
Our takeover of Plastic Soup Foundation's Instagram stories is happening now; head over to their Instagram page to find out more about this fantastic charity.

A sneaky peak back to when we were at the start line of the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge! Some valuable information gathered and a fantastic experience! This was just after chatting with @keldawood who smashed it solo! 🛶 also one of the The Nauti Buoys featuring in at the end 😜

Official Launch Video
It was a cold, crisp but sunny winters day in December the Ocean5’s Rannoch 45 took its first dip in a lake in Cirencester. This was the first time most of us had ever rowed and certainly first time together! The boat is very much a empty shell at present but will be fully kitted our with navigation and safety equipment, water maker, batteries, solar panels, pockets for tools, auto helm etc. At present, the team are studying and ticking off their mandatory courses whilst organising fundraising events, food for the trip and safety equipment.
We are looking for corporate sponsorship and the chance to work with a highly driven and determined group of 5 men! Please take a look at our website for more details how we can collaborate and help you: www.theocean5.com. Thanks to @whereninawent for shooting and vykaproductions for editing.
