Emancipation Month recognizes the struggle for human rights and the rich contributions made by Peoples of African descent. Recognizing Emancipation Month in August acknowledges an abhorrent period in our history and our ongoing commitment to eliminate discrimination in all forms. August 1, 1834 marks the day that the Slavery Abolition Act, 1833 came into effect emancipating more than 800,000 enslaved Africans across the British Empire, including Canada. Here in Toronto, we recognize the entire month of August as Emancipation Month and celebrate the rich contributions that Peoples of African descent have made to our city and country.

World Autism Acceptance Week – March 27-April 2, 2023. World Autism Acceptance Week is held during the week coinciding with Autism Acceptance Day on April 2. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), affects mental, behavioural, and social development. Those with autism, ADHD or behavioural problems respond very well to dietary and naturopathic intervention. Additionally, by working with a naturopath, you will have the option to explore herbal and nutritional supplements as well as other therapies that may help manage symptoms.
Children with autism have been shown to be sometimes deficient in the nutrients the human body needs to remove toxins from their body. The autism detox process may involve eating a gluten-free diet, removing other food allergens and intolerances, and eating low-sugar, low candida diet. There is no known cure for Autism. However, naturopathic medicine therapies can be used as adjuvant treatments for autistic children. Combined with traditional medical/psychotherapy-based approaches, they can help to reduce the severity of your child's autism symptoms. Other treatments such as ABA, OT, speech and language therapy, and social skill therapy can work even easier and more efficiently once the child has improved his/her brain functioning with brain map guided neurofeedback as the child's brain functioning is now more receptive to other therapies. offers an array of naturopathic, non-invasive solutions for adults. Dr. Granzotto and I discuss about how naturopathic medicine can help us as parents to find ways to offer non-invasive treatments and healthy alternatives regarding diet, brain function and approaches.

Dr. Irene Cop. is a doctor (MD, DC) who crashed and burned because of catastrophic burnout. Because her experience was far more severe than the typical mental and emotional effects of burnout, she has identified "Flameout Syndrome" as the advanced, potentially deadly version of burnout. Through her experience, education, and years of trial and error, she has figured out how to hack stress and overwhelm so you can reignite your inner fire and SHIFT into Success mode. Dr. Irene’s podcast ‘The stress to Success S.H.I.F.T’ is a platform of wisdom and wellness, SHIFT into her methods and tune into her healing essence with us . 💐💐💐

SELF INJURY AWARENESS DAY
Self-Injury Awareness Day on March 1st each year focuses on increasing education and support on a misunderstood problem.
When someone causes deliberate self-injury or harm, the action is an indication of emotional distress. According to research from the Journal of American Board of Family Medicine, approximately 4% of Americans self-harm, with a majority of those being college students. The day aims to help friends and family recognize the signs and help those in emotional distress find help. Help and support can be found, though.
Self-injury occurs in many forms, including cutting, scratching, punching, and ingestion of chemicals. Those who self-harm do so for a variety of reasons. Some of them include coping with fear, stress, anxiety, or inducing positive feelings.
