Thanks to the collaborative efforts of O.U.R., Free a Girl, and local authorities, suspected child predators Marthijn Uittenbogaard and Lesley Luijs were arrested in Ecuador on Wednesday evening. The two men were a part of the recently dissolved pe*****le association, Vereniging Martijn, of which Nelson Maatman was also a member (a suspected pe*****le arrested in Mexico City on June 5).
Uittenbogaard and Luijs would allegedly lure children into their home with promises to play video games, where the children were forced to be s*xually exploited in exchange for sweets. This exploitation was said to occur during organized parties allegedly hosted by the two men.
Free a Girl founder Evelien Hölsken states: “Even if you think you can avoid justice by hiding in villages on the other side of the world: justice will prevail. You keep your hands off children.”
We are proud to work with organizations like Free a Girl and law enforcement that are committed to bringing these alleged predators to justice, and healing to those who were harmed. On June 29, the R&B singer R. Kelly (whose real name is Robert Sylvester Kelly) was sentenced to 30 years in prison. He was found guilty September 27, 2021, of racketeering and s*x-trafficking charges stemming from a decades-long practice of recruiting and grooming girls and young women for illegal s*x.
Judge Ann Donnelly, who oversaw his trial, handed down this sentence, plus an additional five years of supervised release and a $100,000 fine. Donnelly condemned Kelly for the "serial r**e and s*xual abuse" he perpetrated on his victims.
During the prosecution, more than 40 witnesses were called to testify in Kelly's summer 2020 trial. The women, many of whom were teenagers when they met Kelly, testified that he directed them to have s*x with him and each other and said he would videotape their s*xual encounters. Kelly is scheduled to stand trial in August on child s*xual abuse material (child po*******hy) and obstruction of justice charges.
We hope that this sentencing will bring peace to those who were harmed, and that he will be brought to justice upon facing these further charges. Read more about the sentencing here: https://apnews.com/article/r-kelly-timeline-b4b3628b11dcb12d5decb35d20041c77

“Elizabeth,” a 15-year-old survivor from South America, recently received news that the people who trafficked her (her mother and her mother’s boyfriend) received sentences of 20 to 22 years.
Starting when she was six years old, Elizabeth was s*xually exploited by her mother’s boyfriend while her mother filmed the abuse to post on the dark web.
Elizabeth was trafficked for two years until her father found out and connected her with one of our local aftercare partners. Their legal team ensured that her traffickers were brought to justice.
O.U.R. Aftercare recently met Elizabeth to find ways we could help in her healing journey. We provided her with a school uniform and laptop, so she could further her education. We are also providing support to her father, so he can pay off his car payment and continue to provide for his three children as a rideshare driver.
Your support enables O.U.R. Aftercare to support survivors like Elizabeth and their families. Text "UPDATES" to 75004 for exclusive updates and information from our Aftercare and Operations teams.

Thank God for these agencies that are on the frontline rescuing these kids!!!! Alot of them were runaways!!
Agencies recover 70 missing children in West Texas Those recovered included victims of abuse and s*x trafficking.
Healing can take many forms. This often includes healing from the physical effects of trafficking.
A survivor in Asia named “Amanda” was physically abused during the time she was trafficked. This abuse caused her to lose most of her ability to see.
With your help, O.U.R. and our friends at Global Shepherds provided funds for two of Amanda’s surgeries. These correctional surgeries help Amanda not only to improve her vision, but to move forward on her path of healing. Amanda’s surgeries were successful, and she continues to recover!
Thanks to supporters like you, we are able to provide resources and care for survivors like Amanda. To receive exclusive updates regarding our survivors and operations, text "UPDATE" to 75004.
So scary!!!
On April 8, a 15-year-old girl from North Richland Hills went to a Dallas Mavericks game with her dad at the American Airlines Center.
She went to the bathroom right before halftime.
She never made it back to her seat.
Surveillance footage showed video of her leaving the arena with a man that night.
A week and a half later, on April 18, police found the teen in a hotel room in Oklahoma City after her parents identified her through n**e photos that had been posted online in s*x advertisements.
"She was gone missing a total of 11 days," attorney Zeke Fortenberry said.
This is a scary story that reminds us to keep our kids close. To read more go to https://tinyurl.com/2tfnnzpe
In 2018, the young girl in the front left of this picture was rescued at this scene.
This week, she decided to pursue a college degree in social work.
Also this week, a teenage survivor found out that the people who trafficked her will spend the next several years in jail.
A survivor received “best nails” in her cosmetology course a couple weeks ago. This came shortly after a very difficult week with mental health.
Last week a young teen went to one of her first therapy appointments after being trafficked. I can’t imagine how difficult this would be but I am so proud of her.
These are just a handful of incredible updates from the O.U.R. Aftercare team that I just received!! Each of these individuals have gone through so much at such a young age. Hearing these updates is so inspiring and I am so grateful to you who fight to help make this possible for survivors.
En route home from Ukraine, I was invited to stop in London to report our operations to the BBC. Stay tuned for more on this!

Sheriff Hedrick would like to remind parents of the dangers posed by those who prey on children, by way of social media and other online platforms.
In 2018, the O.U.R. Ops Team worked with local law enforcement to rescue 10 girls who were being trafficked by a local gang in Latin America, and O.U.R. Aftercare coordinated the girls’ aftercare.
One of the girls, “Flora,” was only 13 years old at the time. Our team members remember how scared she was, constantly clinging to a small stuffed bunny.
We recently visited with Flora and learned she hasn’t been able to attend school recently. She told us it was her dream to graduate with her class, so we made a plan with her to go back to school. The O.U.R. Aftercare team paid for Flora’s tuition and provided her with a laptop and other school supplies.
Flora is thrilled to be back in school. She said, “I’m so in love with this moment in my life: going back to school, being with my friends, doing my homework, pursuing my dreams because for the longest time, that wasn’t an option for me.”
