Greetings Friends... I need your help. The Grace Project bank account is getting low... which always gives me a little anxiety! This year I will be traveling to Rocky Top TN with with Flat Out Love to photograph more Goddesses (the last time I traveled with them I photographed 76 people over a three day period) and to Hawaii with MBC Travelers Nonprofit allowing some metastatic patients the opportunity to be photographed on a bucket list wish trip... I will also be having an exhibition of The Athena Division at the VAMC in San Francisco and simultaneously at the VAMC in North Carolina... I will need $$$ to travel to all of these locations and also to print and ship the artwork for both exhibits. While in those locations I will also be photographing subjects in those regions who wish to be photographed for the project. Soooooo... there is all of that production plus the cost of flights and accommodations... (I do this all on a shoestring budget).
In addition, every person that is photographed (and at this point it is over 800 subjects) receives 2 signed fine art prints in the mail from their photoshoot. To give you an idea of this cost, the replacement ink for my photo printer is $700. a pack of 50 sheets of photo paper is $60 and the average cost of packing and shipping to every person is about $7.00 So around about $25 for each person I photograph... not including the expense and time it took to get to them. I have about 113 people waiting in the wings for their photographs and I have to raise every cent in order to do this... I really can't do this alone... so I'm reaching out to you... the beautiful supporters of this project and the believers in the healing power of art to help me do this. Please consider contributing any amount that you are comfortable with to help me to do this important work. Click the donate link on this post (all FB payments are via PayPal... so it is a safe transaction)... but there is also a direct link to PayPal on the Grace Project website if you are more comfortable with that... or if you like you can send a check to Grace Goddess inc. 251 Broadway, Kingston NY 12401. Grace Goddess inc. is a 501 (c) 3 organization, so all contributions are tax deductible under U.S.A. law. Deep gratitude to all who can contribute... and gratitude also to those who are not in the position to be able to do so... but support the project in other ways, I am truly grateful... Charise Here is another stunning Goddess to brighten your day

Iโ€™m sad to announce one of our valued members Michele Romano has passed away, her husband has set up a gofundmepage in memory of Michele and the funds collected are being donated to the LDN Research Trust.

Michele was an extraordinary soul whose compassion, courage and zest for life inspired all who knew her. As she faced a debilitating immune system condition, her strength and positivity shone through. When conventional treatments provided little relief with major side effects, Michele found new hope through low-dose naltrexone (LDN) - a remarkable treatment that allowed her to promptly regain her health and embrace a pain-free life once more.

The LDN Research Trust was a beacon during this arduous journey, offering support and vital information. Micheleโ€™s deep gratitude for the organisation led her to become a passionate advocate, determined to raise awareness of LDNโ€™s life-changing potential. Her powerful story of perseverance and healing will be featured in the Trustโ€™s upcoming book in June.

Today, we honour Micheleโ€™s beautiful spirit by supporting the LDN Research Trustโ€™s crucial work. All contributions will directly fund pioneering research, education efforts and advocacy - bringing renewed quality of life to countless others facing chronic illnesses.

Micheleโ€™s vibrant light may have dimmed, but her legacy of hope and resilience will continue to inspire. Please feel free to contribute, to celebrate an incredible life dedicated to helping others find love, peace and healing.

We sincerely appreciate all contributions.

Making the Beast Beautiful

This is one of the top 3 books to read if you are struggling with anxiety, or seeking to explore a rather holistic approach to emotional well-being and self-discovery. Sarah's "First, We Make the Beast Beautiful" centers around understanding the purpose of anxiety, embracing curiosity and self-reflection, and cultivating holistic practices for inner peace. Here's a summary of some key lessons:

1. Reframing the Beast: Make it Beautiful:
Instead of viewing anxiety as a disease to be conquered, Wilson suggests seeing it as a messenger, albeit an uncomfortable one, that urges us to pay attention to our unmet needs, hidden fears, potential dangers, or general well-being. This shift in mindset helps us understand its purpose, decipher its messages, and transform it from a beast we fear into a guide leading us towards greater well-being.

2. Curiosity, Not Fear:
Rather than approach anxiety with fear and suppressing discomfort, Wilson advocates for a curious and accepting approach. Observe your feelings and triggers to understand their root causes and develop healthier responses. This self-inquiry can unearth valuable insights into ourselves, allowing us to develop healthier coping mechanisms.

3. Cultivating a Daily Gratitude Antidote:
Gratitude has been scientifically shown to reduce anxiety by shifting our focus from perceived threats to the abundance already present in our lives. Wilson proposes incorporating a daily "gratitude ritual," whether it's writing down things you're thankful for, expressing appreciation to others, or simply savoring positive moments. This practice cultivates a sense of well-being, countering the negativity associated with anxiety.

4. Beyond Therapy, Embrace a Holistic Approach to Inner Peace:
While acknowledging the valuable role of therapy, Wilson also explores various holistic practices that can contribute to anxiety management. Mindfulness helps us stay present and manage emotional responses, meditation fosters inner calm, healthy eating nourishes the body and mind, exercise releases tension and boosts mood, and connecting with nature provides grounding and perspective. Each practice contributes to a holistic approach to well-being.

5. Be Kind to Yourself:
Anxiety can manifest in unique ways, making us feel "weird" or different. Instead of adding self-judgment to the mix, Wilson encourages self-compassion and acceptance. โ€œIt can be a good thing, too, to learn to sit in your own weirdness,โ€ says Sarah. Our quirks and vulnerabilities are part of what makes us human. Embracing "weirdness" fosters self-love and reduces the shame often associated with anxiety.

6. Replacing Negative Narratives:
Negative thought patterns like "I'm not good enough" or "This will never work" can fuel anxiety. Wilson suggests identifying and challenging these inner critics with healthy self-talk and self-compassionate affirmations. Replacing negativity with empowering beliefs can significantly impact how we experience and manage anxiety.

7. Befriending the Present Moment:
Mindfulness practices like meditation and mindful breathing are crucial tools for managing anxiety. These practices help us stay present in the moment, detach from unhelpful thoughts, and acknowledge our feelings without judgment. By developing mindfulness skills, we learn to regulate emotional responses and navigate anxious moments with greater ease.

8. Building Healthy Habits:
Establishing healthy routines promotes overall well-being and builds resilience against anxiety. Getting enough sleep allows the body and mind to rest and recharge, regular physical activity releases endorphins and reduces stress, and nourishing your body with nutritious foods provides the fuel it needs to cope effectively. These healthy habits create a strong foundation for managing anxiety in the long run.

9. The Power of Connection: Sharing the Journey with Others:
We don't have to face anxiety alone. Sharing our experiences with supportive friends, and family, or even joining a therapy group can be incredibly helpful. Openly discussing our struggles fosters understanding, reduces isolation, and provides valuable reassurance and support.
