A pinky perfect logo for Boarding Scarlett.
Project Heating were looking for a modern, minimalistic logo design for their new company's branding.
Intially a more traditional/classy look was requested but during development it became clear that a tweak towards more of a modern design would be a more appropriate route to take.
In the end, the 1 colour design was created using a modern sans-serif font paired up with a symbol which represents heating within the home.
A YouTube channel focusing on the journey of learning to snowboard was looking for a logo to launch 'Boarding Millie'.
The developed logo says ‘fun/sporty/cool/young’ but doesn't exclusively tie the brand to snowboarding. The lettering is literally rushing down the slope, just like Millie herself.
J Ireland Plumber were looking for a new logo to kick-start a revitalisation of their brand. The design uses a similar but more up to date font and pairs it with a useful logomark made by combining a water droplet and spanner shape.
The benefit of having a separate symbol beside the text means that it can be used separately in other branding applications. For example, it would look great as an icon for their website in the address bar.
A new playful hand crafted logo for All Set Tennis - tennis coaching for all ages.
New logo for Lucky Number 7 Holdings! A hospitality company who deal with bars and restaurants and we're looking for a vibrant and professional yet quirky design.
A new logo for a new boiler servicing company. This one uses the tried and tested 'flame' motif concept. The second flame is actually a cut out section of the first which helps to make the design a little more memorable.
MCG Performance are an online retailer of car tuning products as well as carbon fibre parts and accessories for high performance vehicles.
The design concept takes quite an aggressive approach, with shapes making up the MCG lettering, sliced at harsh angles. This is the main focus of the design - the bold, sharp, unforgiving nature of those angles which imply 'performance'.
Love Garden Services got in touch looking for help with designing a logo for their garden maintenance company. They had been doing it for a few years and now felt it was time to concentrate on branding.
A really approachable, friendly design was developed which is particularly suited to the gardening sector. Another reason to go with this lettering is just how well the letters organically fit with one another. This is often not the case when attempting to arrange text and shouldn’t be overlooked. You can see how this, in a manner, mirrors the natural world and how plants naturally grow, shape and conform together.
KS Fitness were currently in the process of creating a personal trainer business. They were at the stage where they needed a graphic designer to finalise the logo and help me with branding/identity. They had a company name in mind and a few logo ideas/examples to help get the ball rolling.
The first proposed design concept had a strong minimalistic, modern feel. The design uses lots of negative space and thin lines to accomplish this. A circle contains the mark and at the same time brings in stopwatch symbolism in a really elegant manner.
The inverse colourway for The Mason Works performs just as well as the primary logo, making this mark highly versatile.
The Mason Works approached Edinburgh Logo Design looking for a new logo using a heritage approach regarding font and colours.
One of the five key concepts of effective logo design is simplicity. This helps to keep the logo legible at a variety of distances or sizes. It also makes the design more quickly comprehensible as you don’t want the viewer to spend time deciphering anything. Simplicity is at the forefront of this particular design with a clear serif font being used and the letters kerned further apart so there’s no chance of blending into one another.
The font choice nods towards traditionalism without being old and tired looking. The colour choice, a sage/lichen type green is at once, both fresh yet traditional. It is also a great choice when using the logo in its inverted colour form. The decorative border has been used to add flavour to the design, to make it a little more unique. It also helps push the logo stylistically towards the type of field the company operates in. The particular design of the border was designed to form fit around the lettering.
Work of Iron logomark.
Work of Iron logo working on a dark background.
Work of Iron is a company run by an artist Blacksmith and were looking for a logo which matched their individuality.
One of the main areas to this design was exploring the balance between a strong solid logo which can be rendered in metal, and lighter decorative flourishes which hint at the artistic, performance side of the Work of Iron venture.
Here, a modern weighty logo has been used and the words ‘WORK’ and ‘IRON’ mirror nicely either side of the word ‘OF’. Diamonds have been added to the negative space created above and below the scaled down ‘OF’ and a custom ‘W’ has been crafted which can be taken and used on its own as a separate logomark.
Hebmac is a platform that operates as a business directory and marketplace for all services across Scotland. They no longer felt that their current logo accurately reflected their business model and were looking for something far more suitable.
A lowercase sans-serif lettering was used to give a friendly approachable vibe - a specific font which looked strong enough to emit a feeling of reliability. A simple celtic knot symbol was also utilised to represent different points or services, linkage, connections. The infinite nature of the symbol feels ‘all encompassing’ and knots are considered secure and trustworthy - engaging with a clear Scot/Celtic connection.
Fraser Oliver was looking for a local design studio to handle the branding needs of his electricians business.
The design uses a condensed font choice and an ‘electric blue’ coloured separator line with an electrical circuit resistor symbol placed halfway along. A nice clear white colour along with the vibrant blue works against a more relaxed dark navy. The navy gives quite a sophisticated feel - signalling an impression of ‘high-end’ when placed on a dark background such as this. Generally speaking, navies and dark blues are also synonymous with 'trustworthiness’.
As instructed, clichés like light bulbs and lightning bolts have been avoided, but a subtle amount of appropriate symbolism in the logo to add some flavour of the industry was employed.
Logomark for Hebridean Holidays
Hebridean Holidays were looking for a logo to front their Scottish vacation company.
Friendly yet thick lettering was utilised to make the mark stand out. The symbol incapsulates the Hebridean getaway with a little holiday home on a wee hill beside the sea and a mountain behind. The colouring looks great in a dark green and turquoise colour palette as well as being flexible and working well in 1-colour variants too.
Belief Press are a new online publishing business. They specialise in the psychology of belief.
Edinburgh Logo Design took an original logo by the client and re-designed from the ground up. All the main aspects of the logo were addressed so that the clear underlying concept was kept intact. Changes were primarily centrered around the spacing between the elements, colouring, font choice and the unification of the mark as a whole.
Single colour version of the Edinburgh Neuropsychology logo.
Edinburgh Neuropsychology logomark
Edinburgh Neuropsychology are a private neuropsychology service that supports people with neurological conditions across the UK. They needed a logo in preparation of the launch of their new business.
Although there were early concerns about being too cliché a symbol based on the human brain was explored in detail during the developement process of the logo. A highly stylistic, multicoloured, multilayered, swoosh-brain graphic was created and considered elegant and more importantly befitting enough of the company's industry.
The New Havana logo working on a dark grey.
The New Havana are a cigar-based events company (yes really) and needed a strong logo for their start-up.
This design has a weathered/distressed look which definitely adds flavour and character to the design. Leaf imagery is utilised and in this case has the added benefit of being an option in future branding needs. For example, the leaf ‘icon’ could be used as a patterned background on a business card, or it could reiforce the brand by being placed in a corner of every page of a menu, (when the full logo would be overkill).
A little more character has been established by playing with the A and V shapes making those triangles effortlessly work with each other. The colouring of this logo stays with a warm hue, a vibrant rusty orange -which is derived from the Cuban climate.
Rintoul plumbing needed a logo for all the usual small business needs.
The design uses a rounded lowercase font choice and a subtle flame motif on top of the ‘i’ in Rintoul. The services text ‘PLUMBING & HEATING’ fits neatly below.
A medium blue was used to give not only a feeling of approachability but also of trustworthiness. A darker blue would give off more ‘security’ signals akin to a banking logo whilst a lighter blue would start to feel a little too flimsy and ‘pally’. The small orange flame motif is used sparingly to add a little note of interest to the logo as it might feel a little bland in just one colour tone. It gives an instant little focal point.
The font is thick enough so that it can be applied without any problems on various mediums like web, van sides or even embroidered clothing. Yet it’s not so thick that it feels overly ‘bold’ and in your face. The curves of the font also feel quite ‘pipe-like’ and as such, marry well with the actual nature of the business.
Ilektric logo in 1 colour white, on their brand red. Works just as well as the primary logo and gives flexibility in its application.
Ilektric are a family run electricians and were looking for a solid trustworthy logo to push their brand forward.
This design was the most simple out of the three initial concepts developed and presented to Ilektric. Basically speaking, the more simple a logo - the more flexible it can be in the future and this choice in particular was objectively the most versatile. It also benefits from having a horizontal overall shape rather than vertical which usually has the effect of being able to present the logo at a larger size. The larger the logo, the more visible it is.
It’s a very self explanatory logo and takes a risk with the debatably cliché electrician's-lightning-bolt. But when combined with the fresh, zingy red/white colour palette, and a bold bevel-cornered font - an overly familiar trope becomes something new entirely.
Cafe Kawaii are a boba tea cafe and anime gift shop. They were looking for a design with familiar cute kawaii stylings which would work primarly on their shop front and interior.
A cute golden retriever dog has been set within a bubble, surrounded by bubble lettering ‘cafe kawaii’. Lowercase lettering has been used to evoke a feeling of friendliness and approachability. A light shade of teal was opted over a more typical kawaii shade to match the overall colour scheme of the design. Two different colours were used on the surrounding bubbles to help clarify the two separate words and to add variety.
Blaikie Tree Services are a team of reliable tree surgeons who were looking for a logo which balanced an aesthetic of professionalism and approachability.
The design takes a friendly route, with lowercase lettering and utilises a medium weight, slightly casual looking font. A unique ‘B’ symbol has been designed to go with the text bringing in an illustrated tree and leaves. As an added touch, the leaves in the tree have been coloured in the current brand-blue along with one slighter darker and one slightly lighter shade.
