The director of Innovation in Biomedical Assessment in the Health Area of the Instituto de Biomecánica de Valencia (IBV) will participate in the second day with a talk focused on technological innovations for healthy longevity. Throughout his professional career he has participated in multiple R&D&I and technological development projects in the field of health, functional assessment, active and healthy ageing, as well as in the improvement of quality of life.

Sebastian A. Brunemeier will attend the Longevity World Forum Alicante 2024 and will participate in the second day with a talk focused on longevity biotechnology as the apotheosis of medicine. José Sempere's attendance at the 3rd edition of the Longevity World Forum, to be held in Alicante, has been confirmed. The first Professor of Immunology of the Valencian Community will participate in the first day of the congress with a talk focused on immunology and longevity.

Sempere currently chairs the Valencian Society of Immunology (SVI) and is a corresponding member of the Royal Academy of Medicine of the Valencian Community.

His current research is related to cancer immunotherapy, the ageing of the immune system, reproductive immunology and the search for diagnostic, prognostic and/or therapeutic response biomarkers in cancer and autoimmune diseases.

Confirmada la asistencia de José Sempere en la 3ª edición del Longevity World Forum, que tendrá lugar en Alicante. El primer catedrático de Inmunología de la Comunidad Valenciana participará en la primera jornada del congreso con una charla centrada en la inmunología y la longevidad.

Actualmente, Sempere preside la Sociedad Valenciana de Inmunología (SVI), siendo académico correspondiente de la Real Academia de Medicina de la Comunidad Valenciana.

Su investigación actual está relacionada con la inmunoterapia del cáncer, con el envejecimiento del sistema inmunitario, con la inmunología de la reproducción y con la búsqueda de biomarcadores diagnósticos, pronósticos y/o de respuesta terapéutica en cáncer y en enfermedades autoinmunes.

One of the leading causes of mortality and long-term disability in adults is acute brain injury resulting from ischaemic stroke.

Early mortality and morbidity are due to the ischaemic brain injury itself. But in the case of long-term morbidity after such an event, it is also due to the high prevalence of co-morbidities and secondary complications, such as cardiac events and cognitive impairment, among others.

According to a new study, published in the journal Cell and conducted by Professor Liesz's team of researchers, the origin of dysfunctions in other parts of the body after a stroke lies in the immunological memory of blood-producing cells in the bone marrow. These findings, says Liesz, make effective therapeutic approaches possible in order to prevent secondary heart diseases after a stroke.

Una de las principales causas de mortalidad y discapacidad a largo plazo en adultos son las lesiones cerebrales agudas producidas como consecuencia de un accidente cerebrovascular isquémico.

La mortalidad y la morbilidad tempranas se deben a la lesión cerebral isquémica en sí. Pero en el caso de la morbilidad a largo plazo después de un episodio así, también se debe a la elevada prevalencia de comorbilidades y complicaciones secundarias, como eventos cardíacos y deterioro cognitivo, entre otras.

Según un nuevo estudio, publicado en la revista Cell y realizado por el equipo de investigadores del profesor Liesz, el origen de las disfunciones en otras partes del organismo tras un ictus tiene lugar en la memoria inmunológica de las células productoras de sangre en la médula ósea. Estos hallazgos, asegura, Liesz, posibilitan enfoques terapéuticos eficaces con el fin de prevenir enfermedades cardíacas secundarias después de sufrir un ictus.

The 3rd edition of the Longevity World Forum Alicante will be attended by José Viña on the first day dedicated to the science of longevity. The Professor of Physiology at the University of Valencia will moderate the debate "Nutritional supplements in longevity. Fact or fiction?"

Viña leads the FRESHAGE group working on healthy ageing, exercise and Alzheimer's disease. He has received two honorary doctorates, from the Universities of Buenos Aires (Argentina) and Rennes (France).

In addition, he has been cited more than 24,500 times and has received several honours, including the Albert Struyvenberg medal awarded by the European Society for Clinical Investigation (ESCI) 2017 for his leadership in ageing and exercise research.

James Nelson will participate in the Longevity World Forum Alicante 2024! The Professor of Cellular and Integrative Physiology and of the Barshop Institute for Longevity and Aging Studies at UT Health San Antonio will participate in the first day of the 3rd edition of the international congress with an interview on intervention programmes and translation to healthy longevity.

Through his research, Nelson seeks to understand the genetic and physiological basis of ageing through nutritional and pharmacological interventions.

He has been involved for more than two decades in the National Institute on Aging's Intervention Testing Programme, which has identified 12 drugs that increase longevity in genetically heterogeneous mice. Their current work has uncovered striking s*x differences in the life-extending efficacy of these drugs, and also in the age-specific mortality of untreated mice, which is remarkably parallel to that of humans.

A major goal is to understand the biological basis of these s*x differences in ageing and drug efficacy, with the long-term aim of improving the lives of all of us as we age.

¡James Nelson participará en el Longevity World Forum Alicante 2024! El catedrático de Fisiología Celular e Integrativa y del Instituto Barshop de Estudios sobre Longevidad y Envejecimiento de UT Health San Antonio participará en la primera jornada de la 3ª edición del congreso internacional con una entrevista que se le efectuará sobre programas de intervención y traslación a la longevidad saludable.

Mediante su investigación, Nelson busca comprender las bases genéticas y fisiológicas del envejecimiento mediante intervenciones nutricionales y farmacológicas.

Ha participado durante más de dos décadas en el Programa de Pruebas de Intervenciones del Instituto Nacional sobre el Envejecimiento, que ha identificado 12 fármacos que aumentan la longevidad en ratones genéticamente heterogéneos. Su trabajo actual ha descubierto sorprendentes diferencias de s*xo en la eficacia de esos fármacos para prolongar la vida, y también en la mortalidad específica por edad de los ratones no tratados, que es notablemente paralela a la de los humanos.

Uno de los principales objetivos es comprender las bases biológicas de estas diferencias s*xuales en el envejecimiento y la eficacia de los fármacos, con el fin a largo plazo de mejorar la vida de todos nosotros a medida que envejecemos.

María Blasco confirms her attendance at the 3rd edition of the Longevity World Forum Alicante. The molecular biologist will participate in the second day by giving the closing conference focused on the role of telomeres in ageing and longevity.

She is scientific director of the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO) and head of the Telomeres and Telomerase Group. She has also received several national and international awards and distinctions, such as the Josef Steiner Cancer Research Award (Switzerland), and has received four honorary doctorates in Spain.

Her studies on the role of telomeres and telomerase in cancer and ageing have been published in leading scientific journals such as Cell, Nature and Science.

Salvador Macip will attend the Longevity World Forum 2024 and will take part in the first day with a paper focusing on sinotherapies.

Professor of Molecular Medicine at the University of Leicester (UK) and at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (Spain), where he is also Director of Health Sciences Studies.

Before creating the Mechanisms of Cancer and Ageing Laboratory at the University of Leicester, he spent nine years at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.

Mercedes Ayuso confirms her attendance at the Longevity World Forum 2024. The researcher will participate in the second day of the congress dedicated to technology and trends with a presentation focused on the economics of ageing.

She is Professor of Actuarial Statistics at the University of Barcelona and holds a PhD in Economics (Extraordinary Prize) and is an insurance actuary from the same university.

She is also a full member of the Riskcenter-IREA research group and her most important lines of research include: longevity and dependency risk analysis, the economics of ageing, pensions and risk quantification.

Filipe Barata's attendance at the 3rd edition of the Longevity World Forum, which will take place in Alicante, Spain, has been confirmed. Dr. Barata will participate in the second day of the congress with a talk focused on wearable technologies and applications in both ageing and longevity.

He is a senior researcher at ETH Zurich and senior director of AI and digital biomarker research at the Centre for Digital Health Interventions.

The 3rd edition of the Longevity World Forum will be attended by Toren Finkel on the first day dedicated to the science of longevity. The researcher will give the inaugural lecture "From the mechanisms of ageing to interventions".

PhD from Harvard Medical School, he has a laboratory located at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where he is the director of the Institute on Aging and Distinguished Professor of Medicine.

For more than two decades, Finkel has worked with the long-term goal of uncovering the molecular basis of mammalian ageing and age-related diseases and, in recent years, has focused on determining whether a decrease in autophagy could mimic ageing, among other questions.

Doctorado en la Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad de Harvard, cuenta con un laboratorio ubicado en la Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad de Pittsburgh, donde es el director del Instituto de Envejecimiento y profesor distinguido de Medicina.

Durante más de dos décadas, Finkel ha trabajado con el objetivo a largo plazo de descubrir la base molecular del envejecimiento en mamíferos y las enfermedades relacionadas con la edad y, en los últimos años, se ha centrado en determinar si una disminución en la autofagia podría emular el envejecimiento, entre otras cuestiones.
