May 17, 2012 The EKEM Awards motto is "Music is of the people, by the people, for the people." The year May 2011 to May 2012 will be the year in review.
On Thursday May 17th 2012 we are happy to announce the much anticipated East Kootenay Electronic Music & DJ Awards (EKEM) in conjunction with Soundcloud.com Global Meet Up Day. In our own opinion this is what some would call the "Peoples Choice" awards. This is the audiences chance to give feedback in a celebratory manner to those who have illustrated well organized moments of talent and entertain
ment for us on a regular basis. Whether it be in a bar, at a private party or at a holiday event, the people of the electronic music movement deserve appreciation. This occassion marks the first of its type in the East Kootenays. This function is at the distinguished Green Door located in downtown Kimberley, BC, in the Platzl across from the Bavarian Town Clock. The ceremony will take place from 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm with a short party afterwards going til 11:30pm. Alcoholic beverages will be available for those of age. The ticket price is $5.00 at the door (first come first serve, nominees are free and will have reserved seating). We want this to be a comprehensive overview of the best and brightest in electronic dance music and its culture, from the club/bars to the afterparty, to the weddings, to a bushparty to the festivals, to the birthday parties.
