Have you ever been told that what you are feeling in your body is a figment of your imagination? Or that what you are experiencing is irrelevant because you seem ‘fine’, ‘healthy’, etc.? 🤔
Whether it’s a GP, other allied health practitioners, a personal trainer, a coach, a friend, a parent, or a partner- we need to acknowledge that we know our own bodies better than anyone else ever could. We have been living inside of them for our whole lives! 💃🏻
Following the advice of professionals that are experts in their fields is important, especially when it comes to your health. BUT I think it is equally as important to be your own best advocate! YOU deserve to be SEEN and HEARD if your health concerns aren’t being investigated and resolved.
I am passionate about empowering patients to feel and vocalize the entirety of their own experience. No detail is too small, TMI, or a write-off. 😁

We are NOT body positive here.
We are body NEUTRAL.
This is my belly. It makes a fantastic transition from my chest to my pelvis. It does an amazing job of containing my abdominal muscles and internal organs.
I’m willing to bet yours does, too.
Because your body is just a body. You don’t have to feel weird or shameful or hateful about the squishy bits or the body hair or the acne or anything else.
It’s absolutely not necessary for your body to be “beautiful”. It’s necessary for it to function. How well do you think something functions when you hate it?
Stress impacts ALL aspects of our lives.

It’s been a busy couple weeks and I’m feeling tension all along my forearms!
Gua Sha is a great modality to break up that tension and increase the blood flow to get my arms feeling better!
This is also a great technique for tennis elbow/tendinitis! ☺️

I share my story with joining the 35 for 35 for the Mental Health Foundation!
I was so excited to join this 35 for 35 challenge with my coworkers at Refresh Wellness Centre. I’ve been working as an Acupuncturist in Wetaskiwin for three years now and the sense of community here is so inspiring and amazing to be a part of. I started running during the early stages of the pandemic to #1-keep me sane and #2- to keep me busy during all my free time. This challenge is keeping me motivated and committed to exercising at least a few times a week!
My experience with mental health is quite personal. I myself deal with anxiety and depression, and I have also lost someone close to me due to their mental health. Throughout this pandemic I have had my ups and downs but I know that the days I exercise are my best days. My focus this year is maintaining all aspects of my health- regular acupuncture and massage treatments, follow ups with my doctors and dentist, creating a manageable skincare routine and drinking tons of water! I’m grateful for the Wetaskiwin Health Foundation for creating this challenge and spreading awareness about mental health!
