Rock picking with my crew.

06/07/2024

What a wild Saturday afternoon Iā€™ve had slaking lime to make lime putty for our job in Robe, South Australia.

Photos from Taylored Stone Co.'s post 03/07/2024

After some rough weather we are now making good progress on our Robe build using local paddock rock.

23/06/2024

Started mixing this beautiful creamy lime mortar today for our latest build in Robe, South Australia.
We are using this mortar instead of a cement based mortar because it works best with softer stones and we are using a limestone paddock rock on this build which is very soft in comparison to bluestone or granite. And when I say paddock rock I mean we wander around local farms and pick the rock from the paddocks. As always thanks for all your hard work Taylored Stone Co Tradie Lady .
Stay tuned!

First batch of bats for the new year out the door. Good luck for the rest of the season everyone šŸ‘.

Tradie Lady putting the finishing touches on our last job for the year. Itā€™s been a big year working on great projects and next year is looking just as busy. Thanks to everyone we have worked with. Time to put the feet up for a bit.

Finished product, binding, sanding, shaping. Itā€™s been a real pleasure to help these two young cricketers shape their own bats from go to whoa. Iā€™m glad I wonā€™t be around to listen to them knocking in their new bats but Iā€™ll be keeping an eye out for their success on Saturday afternoons. Best of luck and Macey Williamson. Big shout out to their old man Chris .fine.furniture for opening up the workshop and itā€™s resources. !

Before our stint in Kelly country we built this chimney as part of a renovation. Weā€™ve been back working on a gable wall and will soon start the interior fireplace to finish off this project. As always thanks to the tradie lady for her help šŸ˜˜.

We are finished. Buffalo Views log home has all itā€™s stonework done and we are cleaning up and getting ready for the trip home. Itā€™s been a great project to be a part of. Huge thanks to John and Jan for giving us the opportunity to work on the build. Weā€™re having a short break to recharge the batteries then back into it. Special thanks as always to tradie lady for all her hard work and eye for detail. Much appreciated šŸ˜. See you all soon.

Tradie Lady and myself have had a big week pointing up all the interior knee walls and we are done inside apart from the mud room. Time for a Guinness. Have a good weekend everyone šŸ‘šŸ».

Itā€™s been a while between posts. Hereā€™s a couple of chimney and knee wall pics.

26/04/2023

Hoping these autumn days stay as nice as the weather weā€™ve been getting for as long as possible. We are making progress inside and outside on the upstairs part of the build.

14/04/2023

Started the fireplace at Buffalo Views today. We are using a mixture of the local Glenrowan granite and Harcourt granite that we are processing ourselves to be glued on to this concrete block substrate. I donā€™t usually use ā€œstick onā€ stone. Itā€™s generally an inferior product and doesnā€™t lend itself to being aesthetically pleasing to look at from a masonry perspective and most examples Iā€™ve seen donā€™t follow masonry principlesā€¦.. As always a big thanks to the Tradie Lady for her efforts.

Thatā€™s it for 2022 at Buffalo View Log Home. Exploring the North East of Victoria on our weekends has been great but itā€™s beach time now. Thank you to Tradie Lady for you hard work and attention to detail. Catch you all soon for a refreshing beverage.
