2:20 PM Update: We're watching as storms continue to develop over in southeastern New Mexico/Far West Texas. These storms are expected to intensify and grow upscale as they move southeast into the Permian Basin. This is the complex we will be paying attention to as we move into this evening. A severe watch may be needed later this afternoon/evening depending on how these storms evolve over the next few hours.

Here's the latest convective (thunderstorm) outlook from our colleagues at the Storm Prediction Center in Norman, OK. Notice that the Concho Valley and areas along I-20 have been outlooked in the Slight Risk for severe weather (yellow area). Large hail (2" diameter) is the main concern, but damaging winds (60+ MPH) and an isolated tornado cannot be completely ruled out. In addition, a brief period of heavy rainfall is also possible. We added some context and other pertinent forecast information to their severe weather outlook on the left side of the graphic. Check out the details below if you are interested!
