Congratulations to Mrs. McNeil-Wallace and her second grade students for publishing their very own book entitled, "When I Grow Up". The students wrote and illustrated their plans and aspirations for the future. We are so proud of them for creating a School No. 5 Legacy 📗📘📙!

In honor of Earth Day, Mrs. Araujo's kindergarten class went on a nature walk and checked off the items they found on their list. 🌱🌎
In addition, our K-Kids worked together to plant a new tree in front of our building! 🌳 🌿

Thank you, thank you, thank you, to our PTA for an amazing Glow Party! It was truly an amazing time! Thank you to the School No. 5 staff, students, and families for making our event a huge success!! Special shout out to Chloe Smith for sharing your face painting talents!

Mrs. Burns' Pre-K 3 class was busy taking care of Humpty Dumpty today. After reading the story for the past 3 days and learning the rhyme, it was time to extend the story and use our imaginations. The children were busy retelling the story on the flannel board and building walls while balancing Humpty. They, also, doctored him after his fall with stethoscopes and bandages. All had a fun morning while sneaking in literature, math, science and fine motor skills during make-believe play.

Due to the forecasted inclement weather School No. 5 will operate on an early dismissal with lunch served. Students willl be dismissed at 12:55 P.M.

School No. 5 enjoyed an awesome learning opportunity from ESL Coach, Ms. Ross, and ESL teacher, Ms. Delucca. The ladies presented best teaching practices to support our Multilingual Learners. Congratulations to our quiz winners, Mrs. Siegel, Mrs. Glass, and Ms. Perezluha!

Thank you to our School No. 5 K-Kids for hosting our first Pretzel Sale! The students and staff truly enjoyed them! The next pretzel sale is coming January 19th! 🥨

The Pre-K students of School No. 5 were in the holiday spirit and created Gingerbread Houses! The students received assistance from their families and members of the Soehl Middle School Honor's Society. A "sweet" time was had by all! 🍭

In honor of American Education Week, Mrs. Thomas, her daughter Woodnayah Thomas, and student Mia Gray were our honored guest readers in Mrs. Caughman’s 2nd grade class.

In recognition of American Education Week, our 5th graders were invited to apply to be Mrs. Crawley's vice-principal for the day. Congratulations to Taliah Goforth and Elisha Pierre for being selected! They had the opportunity to learn the responsibilities of being an administrator. They also met the Assistant Superintendents as well as the Superintendent of Linden Public schools.

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No. It's SUPERFRIENDS! These little heros in Ms. Fernandes’ and Ms. Burns' Pre-K 3 classes, have learned how to be kind, helpful, caring and respectful. They have been trying every day to practice what they have learned. SUPERFRIENDS to the rescue!

School No.5 had a great time celebrating Halloween! We look forward to welcoming the holiday season!

Over the weekend, the PTA hosted its 2nd Annual Trunk or Treat. Parents, teachers and students enjoyed their Saturday trunker treating! 🎃 👻

During morning announcements teachers, staff and students surprised Mrs. Crawley with some balloons, flowers and cake to celebrate her appointment as School No. 5’s principal. We are so HAPPY and LUCKY to have her! 💐 ❤️

Third grade students in Mrs. Suggs' class learned about the common elements in fairy tales. Students worked very hard creating their very own fairy tales!

Miss Lepore’s Kindergarten class is officially off to 1st grade.

After reading “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”, “Pete the Cat and the Cool Caterpillar” and “The Crunching Munching Caterpillar”, Miss Fernandes’ Pre-K 3 class is excited to observe the life cycle of their very own class caterpillars.

Ms. Scorese's 2nd grade class and Ms. Burns' Pre-K 3 class enjoyed Friday afternoon Buddy Reading.It was wonderful seeing peer teaching at it's finest. Our youngest learners and their new "Big Buddies" are all looking forward to making this a weekly activity for the rest of the school year.
