The University of Oregon will lead the Cascadia Region Earthquake Science Center (CRESCENT), a new first-of-its-kind multi-institution earthquake research center. CRESCENT will receive $15 million from National Science Foundation - NSF over 5 years to study the Cascadia subduction zone & bolster earthquake preparedness in the Pacific Northwest & beyond. CRESCENT will work with public agencies, Tribal groups, private industry, and with communities impacted by hazards to solicit input to guide research priorities. Oregon State University & Portland State University will provide support, along with more than a dozen other higher ed institutions.
