Open call for ofrendas! Latino Arts for Humanity and El Día de los Mu***os AKA Day of the dead Columbus invites you to the "Ofrenda Contest". There will be 3 big prizes! Participate with your family and friends to set up an Ofrenda/Offering during the festival this October 19th at The Green Lawn Cemetery. To submit your ofrenda/offering email us at [email protected]
Sugar skulls “Calaveritas de azúcar”. Learn how to made Calaveritas an easy way to gather with friends to celebrate the traditional Dia de mu***os. Festivity that Letícia shares in Columbus since 1999. This activity will take 2 hours, get ready to use your hands to complete the decoration of a sugar skull with different materials as feathers that evoke the spirit! to feel and experience the festivity you will listen to the stories of how Day of the dead happens in mexico as Letícia explains while working on your sugar skull to take home.

2024 Workshop Series: Candle Decorating Workshop! Saturday, August 17, 2024 made possible thanks to the generous support of the Greater Columbus Arts Council!
Join us for a unique experience where you can unleash your creativity and decorate your own candles! Use any combination of dried flowers, gems, stones, glitter or paint to make something that represents you. All ages welcome!
In addition you can design and create your own label. Using fun colors, stickers, and stamps. All supplies and materials will be provided! Just come ready to create and learn.
Individuals will select a 4 oz candle from a variety of scents and receive tapered candles as well. Feel free to bring additional candles from home you wish to decorate. Give new life to those old candles, any shape or size!
Liliana Bateman's company, Luna Y Tierra, is a Latinx-owned shop prioritizing local and organic ingredients. Coming from a long line of candle makers, her botanicals and candles are inspired by mamas, abuelas, mountains and deserts of Mexico and the Southwest. Her work is fun, unique and ridiculously cute!

Ofrendas-offerings that our ancestors presented to their ancestors after they passed away. It was a way to remember them, feed their soul, request wisdom and guidance to make the right decisions and/or to thank them for the day to day guidance. Long ago were place on the floor with leaves depending of the region, flowers, food, beverage, inciense, water and lots of love
After those times the ofrenda evolved as we did and these days you can organized yours with modern elements. Just remember what is the main idea of an ofrenda. 🙏💕

2024 Workshop Series: Soap Making: Brazilian Coconut Soap Saturday March 16, @ 11am to 2pm
This workshop will teach participants how to make a traditional Brazilian soap that can be used to clean hands, surfaces, dishes and clothes! This multiuser soap uses a cold process technique. We will talk through the history of soap, ingredients, safety, how to make it at home and we will then make our own soaps and molds and bring the soaps home with us at the end!
About Dominique Flaksberg
Dominique started Circular Bodies (www.circularbodies.com) to bring affordable home and body essentials to her community. She has been making soap for over 5 years and hosting workshops and well as running her business. Dominique was born in Brazil and has childhood recipes and ingredients influence her work.
