Felling -
Where space allows, the tree is felled in a single section using various techniques to control the direction of the fall, if space is an issue , dismantling the tree in small sections takes place with specialist care to ensure 0% damage is caused to property , garden furniture , flowering beds etc . Pruning -
Pruning is both a skill and an art. The skill is in making cuts that callus (form a thickened tissue that seals off wounds) properly and minimize the chance for decay. The art is in making cuts in the right places so that the plant takes on a handsome form and is prolific if grown for flowers or fruit. Crown Lifting/Reduction/Thinning
Lifting -
Crown Lifting is the selective pruning/removal of lower branches to increase the distance between the ground level and the lower crown and is normally used to give a uniform height. Reduction -
Crown reduction is used to reduce the height and/or spread of the crown of a tree by the removal of the ends of branches whilst maintaining the tree’s natural shape as far as practicable. Thinning -
Thinning is used to reduce limb weight on mature trees in order to compensate for structural defects such as cracks, hollows, and cavities. Thinning is also used on a young tree to slow growth rate on a vigorous branch. Pollarding -
Removal of limbs back to the trunk. Pollarding can be used to keep a large, mature tree small. It is also useful to control size if a tree has been planted too close to structures such as buildings, street lighting or electric wires. Dead Wooding -
The general process of “dead wooding” is to remove dead, dying and diseased branches through out the crown. Hedge Trimming/Shaping -
