A bittersweet Happy birthday to my late baby brother
I definitely wanted to have a new X DASH album ready for y'all today but it's taking us a bit longer than we anticipated. Instead of being sad & depressed today, I decided to rerelease his debut album BEFORE I X IT to all streaming platforms. I wanted to honor the man, the author, & the lyricist that he was. Monty the of course did the artwork because my baby brother would rise from the grave and kick me in nuts if I had anybody OTHER THAN MONTY do his album cover! 😂😆
I want to share this story with y'all. After my brother passed, my family and I were actively trying to access his Gmail account. My brother's security question popped up & the question he set up was:

Producer Pet peeve:
Some artist will not allow you to produce. They essentially only want your computer and button pushing, not your expertise or input.
Then when the record doesn’t get the response they want, they blame the producer, as if the producer had any real say in how the song came out.
My goal in 2023 is to position ourselves where we are the head of the operation. It’s the only way I feel confident that we can have a fair and open process.
Some think producers want the power to control the artist. Naw, I want the power in order to keep the artist from controlling me, limiting me, and then ultimately blaming me if their song doesn’t win.
Honestly, I think the entire music operation needs to be re-thought, from concept to creation, all the way through release and marketing.

Today is my late baby brother's bday. It hurts because I miss him soooooo much & I want him to see how my career is going UP right now & I want him to be here to be driving me up a wall, spending all my damn money, & listening to him rap for hours on beats.
These were some of the last bars he wrote & we never got em recorded. I'm kinda mad at myself for that.
I promise tho, his next album , "X THE BARBARIAN" is gonna be crazy!

Rappers want free beats but wanna charge for their mixtape! Dude came at me to check out his mixtape in Atlanta. I told him I would then I told him I am a music producer. He said, "that's dope bro! How much you charge for beats?" I told him we can negotiate costs later. He says to me, "Bro, I don't never pay for beats. I just rip them off soundclick or youtube." THEN he proceeded to let me know that his mixtape wasn't free & that I owed him $18.
Saw this old video about the Westbank and had to put a New Orleans spin on it to bring it to 2022
