I was humbled and blessed to be able to witness the apostolic affirmation of a great man, who is my friend and brother. Blessings to Apostle David Stevens who requested this classic selection to be ministered by yours truly. You don’t lightly approach a Daryl Coley classic. You do so with grace and great attention to detail and placement. Apostle Stevens’ nod of approval let me know that I hit the mark. 🙌🏾 To God be the glory! S/o his Sis. Tania Johnson for capturing this moment.

I learned this from Overseer Marsha Green and the lyrics are true for me, “I may not be the best at anything, not have the best of everything, and sometimes I feel I’m the least of all, but then there’s someone who has everything, and that someone is my everything, and I’m happy to know that I’m His child.” ☝🏾☝🏾☝🏾 🎹: Odell Talley

May is not only the month that we celebrate mothers, but it’s also Mental Health Awareness month! Truth be told, all of us have had our mental health impacted to some extent in one way or another.

Today’s Tip: Stretch for 10 minutes before bed.

Exercise modulates the secretion of major neurotransmitters dopamine and serotonin which are linked with treating depression. Indirectly, Exercise improves mood and sleep, and reduces stress and anxiety. Trouble in these aspects of our life frequently causes or contributes to cognitive impairment.

Enjoy your workouts. Move more, sit less, stay fit. Exercise will not only improve your brain and body but will make you one step closer to the person you want to be in life. It’s gonna upgrade the overall quality of life.

Today’s Tip: Speak positive affirmations over yourself. 🗣

Using positive affirmations can help you improve mental health and promote overall well-being, even for those experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, or other challenges.

A 2016 study examined the relationship between self-affirmation and brain neurons, particularly when it comes to our internal rewards system. Researchers found that those who practiced positive affirmations had significantly more brain activity around reward and self-worth than those who didn’t. Other research suggests that self-affirmation can positively influence changes to different health behaviors, including mental health and wellness.

So speak over yourself and encourage yourself today!

Today’s Tip: Show & share gratitude to others!

Researcher Robert Emmons found that focusing on what makes you happy and thankful helps get rid of toxic emotions like envy and resentment, and many patients diagnosed with clinical depression have reported that practicing gratitude helps relieve some of those feelings. People who regularly express gratitude for the positive things in their life are shown to be happier overall, leading to lower rates of stress and depression.

Studies show that those who express gratitude regularly appear to have a more positive outlook on life. People have reported feeling more loved and more connected to others in their lives when they routinely practice gratitude or those around them practice gratitude.

Practicing gratitude is just one way you can improve your mental and physical health. Show gratitude to others today!

May is not only the month that we celebrate mothers, but it’s also Mental Health Awareness month! Truth be told, all of us have had our mental health impacted to some extent in one way or another.

Today’s Tip: Drink more water!

Multiple studies point to a link between dehydration and a higher risk of anxiety. In one 2018 study of over 3,000 adults, those who drank more water had a lower risk of anxiety and depression than those who drank less water. Though the connection between dehydration and depression was stronger, researchers found that anxiety was higher in those who didn’t drink enough water.

In a smaller 2014 study, researchers explored how increasing or decreasing water intake affected mood in people with different water-drinking habits.
They found that people who usually drink lots of water felt less calm, less content, and more tense when their water intake dropped. When researchers increased the participants’ water intake, people in the study felt more happiness, no matter how much water they normally drank.

Drinking plenty of water will help keep you in good physical and mental shape, which is why it’s important to make hydration part of your overall self-care commitment.

May is not only the month that we celebrate mothers, but it’s also Mental Health Awareness month! Truth be told, all of us have had our mental health impacted to some extent in one way or another.

Today’s Tip: Plan a day trip, getaway, or vacation!

Research shows planning a vacation can boost your happiness. Some people experience an elevated mood up to eight weeks before the trip.

Taking a vacation every two years compared to every six will lessen the risk of coronary heart disease or heart attacks.

Neuroscientists have found that chronic exposure to stress can alter your brain structure and bring on anxiety and depression. When you take a vacation, feelings of calm arise and relieve stress, which allows the body and mind to heal in ways that it couldn't if it were still under pressure.

One study found that three days after vacation, subjects' physical complaints, quality of sleep, and mood had improved compared to before vacation. These gains were still present five weeks later, especially in those who had more personal time and overall satisfaction during their vacation.

Many who return from vacation are more focused and productive. Studies have found that chronic stress can make it difficult to achieve certain tasks and cause memory problems. Taking time off can be like getting a tune-up for the brain, improving your mental health and cognition.

May is not only the month that we celebrate mothers, but it’s also Mental Health Awareness month! Truth be told, all of us have had our mental health impacted to some extent in one way or another.

Today’s Tip: Start that book!

Studies report that reading reduced stress in participants by nearly 70 percent and was more effective than things like having a cup of tea or listening to music. They even found that reading for as little as six minutes can have a huge impact on stress.

Reading is really like taking your brain to the gym. It works out all of those important muscles that are needed to help you be at your best mentally. Keeping your mind active with reading makes your brain stronger.

Reading as therapy is known as bibliotherapy. There are actually bibliotherapists who can prescribe books to specifically help with things like anxiety, grief or depression. These self-help books can be a big help to people with mental health issues, either on their own or in addition to in-person therapy.

Reading fiction can help you feel more connected and can help people who may be dealing with depression or anxiety. It allows your imagination to become more engaged and you connect emotionally to characters and reflect your own feelings, problems and desires as you read.

May is not only the month that we celebrate mothers, but it’s also Mental Health Awareness month! Truth be told, all of us have had our mental health impacted to some extent in one way or another.

Today’s Tip: Take a mindfulness walk.

It’s so important to keep yourself healthy. Going outside for some fresh air and exercise can help manage stress and make you feel calmer and more energized.

Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to the moment you are in. In some ways, mindfulness is the opposite of a full mind. Instead of allowing your mind to whir with a million thoughts and worries, mindfulness asks you to slow down and notice what is around you how you are feeling. Mindfulness involves an awareness of your senses and your thoughts with the aim of experiencing and accepting the present moment without judgement.

Mindfulness has been found to reduce stress and anxiety as well as increase overall happiness. By focusing on the present moment, you can shift your thoughts away from worry about both the past and the future.
