So important that we don’t get this confused, also that we teach this clearly to our children. We are saved by grace alone through faith in Christ, and not by works. Then Christ works holiness into us through the work of the Holy Spirit.

“But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”

It was traumatic, but I can’t explain the peace and joy that I have to go home and be with my husband and children. I can’t wait to be fully recovered and to pour out my life as a wife, mother, and homemaker for God’s glory and kingdom! This work God has given me is a gift! And whatever work He has given you is a gift! Cling to this truth and revisit it on the hard days when the selfishness or self pity is creeping in. We are so blessed to be here and to have the time, health, and opportunity to do the work God has given us to do with our lives!

“So teach us to number our days, That we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭90‬:‭12‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.””
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭91‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

(A later edit: I realize I may have those blood pressure numbers wrong, it may have been 50/35 and I just misheard or was confused, just wanted to make sure I’m not embellishing. Unfortunately there is no way to edit the text on the pics. It was very scary and life threatening, whatever the actual numbers.)

“So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1‬:‭27‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“But I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.”
‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭11‬:‭3‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“For man is not from woman, but woman from man. Nor was man created for the woman, but woman for the man.”
‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭11‬:‭8‬-‭9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5‬:‭22‬-‭29‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“God’s will for every Christian wife is that her most important ministry be to her husband (Genesis 2:18). After a wife’s own personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, nothing else should have greater priority. Her husband should be the primary benefactor of his wife’s time and energy, not the recipient of what may be left over at the end of the day. Whether her husband is a faithful Christian man or an unbeliever.” -Martha Peace

Love this!

What's So Great About a Big Family?
by Kathy Walker
1. You have more people loving and serving the Lord.
2. You get to see how God provides.
3. There's almost always someone around to visit with, play with, pray with, or read to.
4. You get lots of experience in sharing.
5. You get lots of experience in communicating.
6. Your hand-me-down clothes are often softer than new clothes.
7. You have your own cheering squad in whatever you do.
8. You get lots of constructive criticism.
9. You can have a big party without inviting anyone from outside your family.
10. You can have your own basketball, volleyball, baseball, or soccer teams
11. You see lots of different outlooks on the same things.
12. You experience the maximum "many hands make light work."
13. You get to see at close range how God uses people with different perspectives and spiritual gifts to accomplish His purposes.
14. You can have your own choir at home with all voice parts.
15. You can read or perform plays together and there is a different person for every part.
16. You can have your own orchestra.

I’ve seen it written recently that the marriage, motherhood, and homemaking accounts are idolatry and that they do not love and exalt Christ. I wanted to bring some balance to this idea.
We must of course be cautious of our hearts towards these things. We must guard our hearts from making idols out of these good gifts! But sharing on these topics and blessing other women by helping them learn and grow in these areas is not necessarily idolatry. Many women love and exalt Christ as they encourage others in their marriage, motherhood, and homemaking journeys. The two are not opposed.

We also must be cautious and use discernment as we choose the marriage, motherhood, and homemaking accounts we follow. Some of them truly are unbiblical, idolatry, and oppressive to women. Avoid those.
“Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭9‬b

“For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. Speak these things, exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise you.”

“So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1‬:‭27‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man. For man is not from woman, but woman from man. Nor was man created for the woman, but woman for the man. For this reason the woman ought to have a symbol of authority on her head, because of the angels. Nevertheless, neither is man independent of woman, nor woman independent of man, in the Lord. For as woman came from man, even so man also comes through woman; but all things are from God.”
‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭11‬:‭7‬-‭12‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. “A Christian family is where each serves the other and all serve Christ.”

I read this quote in a book once and it really stuck with me. I’m the kind of person who loves to be inspired by lovely ideals. Of course I know that we will fall short of this beautiful picture at times. Sin and selfishness will creep in, but that’s where repentance, forgiveness, and grace come in. We serve each other in these ways too, when we admit we are wrong and when we forgive.

“just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭20‬:‭28‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Even Christ our Head came to serve, we must not be thinking about how others can serve us, but instead about how we can serve others.

I love seeing my older children being a blessing to the younger children! Large families are a gift that gives in so many ways! Yes, it's hard sometimes, there is work and sacrifice involved, but that's true for anything that is worth doing. When I see that good fruit popping up, I'm reminded why I'm doing what I'm doing and that this work is extremely important.

Look for good fruit in your children today, and praise and encourage them for it! Give thanks to God for it! Meditate on it. Perhaps write it down in your journal.

Sometimes I cant believe this is my life. As a teen girl I never in my wildest dreams imagined I'd be a large family homeschooling mama! But God often does the unexpected, He took two people who in their teen years seemed more likely to end up in jail or dead, joined us in marriage, and then radically saved us both. He showed us how the Gospel touches every area of the Christian's life. He gave us new desires: a love for Him, a love for His laws, a love for His Word.... and He gave us 8 beautiful children to steward and raise for His glory. I'm daily amazed at His mercy towards us, He has given us so much more than we deserved or imagined!

“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭3‬:‭20‬-‭21‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

We just celebrated our 8th baby's first birthday. So bitter sweet how quickly they grow and change! We love to celebrate our children's birthdays and make each child feel special. We like to also use that time to thank God for their life specifically in prayer together. We thank God for adding this child to our family. We also pray together that this child would be born again and that the Lord would soverignly save and bring this child to Himself at a young age.

Things I do as a homemaker to create a peaceful home:
-Put Scripture on my walls. There's nothing more beautiful and nothing I'd rather see daily more than this.
-Use calming and neutral colors.
-Decorate with sentimental and thrifted items that are unique and special to me.
-Create corners of beauty, even if other corners still need a lot of work.
-Delegate chores and work together as a family to keep things in order.
-Sing hymns while I work, oftentimes we sing together as we work together.
-Give myself permission to sit down to rest, relax, and enjoy the home, not just work in it.
-Take time to appreciate the home that the Lord has provided for my family.
-Contemplate routines, systems, decor, and arrangements that would improve my home.
-Push away the temptation to be a perfectionist or to have it all look as aesthetic as a pinterest board.
-Remind myself that messes can be cleaned up and people are more important than things.

What are some things you do as a homemaker to create a peaceful home?
