Another one that will be feeling much better in the heat after a fresh clip ππββοΈ
I find this boy particularly adorable π
Baby Summer is maturing π€©
We successfully had our first canter following another horse the other day, so of course to install that lovely canter we went out to do exactly the same today but solo.
The "1sts" are definitely one of my favorite things about the backing and breaking process, and the perfect timing creates the perfect 1st, and this is exactly that, cantering along the trail all cool and calm like she's done it for years π
Well done super Summer π₯°
A full clip done today for our technicolour pony, new clip new colour ππ
She'll feel much better in the upcoming heat for Granny's Pony Dressage π₯°
Baby Summer passing some baby ducklings π₯π
A follow up on Granny's Pony Dressage post, Bill and Freya were together for at least 7 years before me and Bill parted ways 3 years ago, below is what I filmed this morning of Bill and Freya first setting eyes on eachother after not seeing eachother for the last 3 years since we left.
I think the video says it all in the way Bill plods out of his stable all d***y and chilled, but then Freya clocks him immediately and calls and he recognises her call straight away and shoots his head up and calls straight back π
They reunited as though they'd never been apart π₯°π₯°
Could you want a better view on such a lovely Saturday morning π
Young JB out exploring and meeting some baby Highland calfs along the way π₯°
Bear by name, big cuddly bear by nature π₯°π»
Just one of the beautiful youngers I'm currently working with.
We're taking it very easy with this big baby as he still has a lot of maturing left to do, but nevertheless there's still plenty of work to be implemented to bennafit his future career, one of which is venturing out and building up his confidence off the yard.
Super pleased with his progress so far, he's getting more confident after each session, both with and without the company of his field mates π€©
So today was a big day for me and my boy Bill.
We grew up on Hargate together, but a few years ago we parted ways and left, but as a lot of people on here know me and my mum ( Granny's Pony Dressage ) are very close.
And we've agreed it's time for me and Bill to be back reunited with my mum and Freya.
I have no regrets of my decisions to have left, I've made so many friends along the way (I'd include Bill but he's a quiet antisocial boy, although he certainly gained a few admirersπ
).
But now it's time for the old but new.
And I'm looking forward to lots of pony fun back with my mum and (surprise, surprise) not Freya π but Summer, I'm sure they are going to be the dream team!
My mum helped me soooo much to become the dream team with Freya I owe it to her now to help her and Summerπ₯°
Absolutely love teaching this duo π€©
A lesson with lots of successful first time accomplishments this morning!
And giving credit where its due this was all down to the rider today ππ
I've been schooling this boy out on hacks due to that being the only place to ride but I took the rare opportunity to school in the field and wow π€©
It just put into prospective how bennaficial our hacking sessions have been π
The face of a welsh mare that's just had to endure the passing of an umbrella βοΈ
Happy Wednesday morning everyone π
My two favourite geldings π€
Sam hopes his mummy is having a good holiday, although I think he was probably thinking more about food π€
Happy mothers day to some of the hardest working mums I know, the horse mums! π©·π΄
What are Saturday nights for again? Tack cleaning obviously π€£
And of course I'm greatful for all my little observers/helpers, yes I trusted little Alfie with my free jumps π³
Although as much as I showed him how to "scrub scrub scrub" he just "dunk dunk dunked" them in and out of the water. But I'll take it ππ
Think I'll finish the free jumps after Alfies gone to bed π§½π§½
After a few months out of work to have a rest and be a pony (Summer really likes her rest π) we're back at it this week with Summers education π
To start gently we just had a tootle around the yard yesterday, and today a short ride out around the local estate. All that road desensitisation work really paid of, we had a few snorts and alert stances but nevertheless a very straightforward ride π
Watch this space, it may be time to spice it up a little for Summer soon π
Head scratch, hand lick and a selfie π
Bonding is important with all animals all shapes and sizes π
π
Another beautiful day today π
And these two were super!
Thanks to our sessions Magic is now so much more confident out riding and gave his mum a lovely calm ride today π
What a beautiful morning for a productive lesson!
Although we started a little on the fresh side being too quick, we finished on a beautiful calm and relaxing note, even moving forward to accomplishing some steady ridden trot work ππ
Youngsters will always be youngsters, and although its easy to remember what they have been like prior, it's important to always look at what is front of you, and from there that should influence every action you take.
Listening to the horse is key to training and that's how today's lesson was turned around from fresh and speedy to calm controlled π€©

So today my boy Bill had his teeth done π¦·
It was his first time without sedation, the reason being for this is although Bill's background before us is unknown (the lady who sold us him blocked us of everything and disappeared of the face of the earthπ) Bill made it very clear to us that he didn't have a good start when he first arrived (his scarring also told us this π), not even letting us touch his nose at the beginning meant dentistry without sedation was clearly not an option.
But after over 10 years of owning Bill, and I know everyone who knows him will agree, he is now a very lovable gentleman in which you can do anything with so today we gave it a go.
With patience and a caring touch we did manage to get his teeth done today. Although some of Bill's old reactions did make an appearance.
It just goes to show that although it's easy for us to forget the past horses don't, and we as owners owe it to them be mindful and caring of this. β€οΈ
Hope everyone was wrapped up warm in this horrendous weather today π₯Ά
This little guy was kept toasty warm in his calf rug, not even a week old yet, how adorable is he! π₯°π₯°
Somebody's had fun in the field today π«’π π€
Magic wanted to show of his big squishy nose in yesterday's road work session π π₯°
So we've gone from snow to super high winds π¨
I think Perky preferred the snow πβοΈ
