Round 9 of the GT3 2024 Proxy Race! It’s race day 😃
This is Fozzy Bear reporting to you live with an update. Paint is complete. Calgary Alberta's newest track code name "Copperhead 2" just needs some copper tape and a few wires. This is no joke people, we shall leave those for the scoreboard . Testing is just around the corner please stay tuned for updates, race dates, and hot dates. We still need TTT's stamp of approval but I have a feeling very few cars will be lit on fire. Very few indeed. I wish everyone out there a good evening a good week and a fast race. Keep your car in the slot. Fozzy Bear is signing off.
And then there was no problem areas. Final sandings are next then multiple coats of paint. Any repairs or joints where repaired with bondo body filler. It's terrible to work with indoors. The fumes are immense however the result is a repair that will never crack or move. It also takes paint exceptionally well. Speaking of paint this time I am tinting a ceiling paint. It's flat cheap and grippy so it should hold urethane tire rubbering in well. I have never tried this so wish me luck. Next week is tape and electronics. Then it's on to a test race.
Fozzy Bear: why is the new mdf board a different color
Fat Bastard: BECAUSE IT CRAP
Bad news everyone. Our marshals are all going to need therapy. Maybe they can get a group rate. I present to you the "Splatter Horn" A death defying series of corners compleate with a wicked drop. Wait are the outside 2 lanes in the last pic anti camber.......I don't actually know but they sure aren't nice and they are cantilever so I can't fix it. Good luck.
Rocky Mountain Racer: hey fozzy did you use that joint compound
FozzyBear: joint..........compound?
Rock Mountain Racer: you know it's like drywall mud to fill in the nail holes on your track
FozzyBear: oh that's what you ment
Rock Mountain Racer: what did you think I ment.
FozzyBear: hehehehe
Rocy Mountain Racer: ?
FozzyBear: oh its all good man we just gotta ......like..... let the track area ummmm .... like..... air out for a day or two. Then I'll smoke I mean apply some more joint and stuff.
Copperhead2 photo update
The first of 2 hairpins on project copperhead 2 has just been routed. I almost pushed the 1/2 mdf board to its breaking point just to make it look like a GTO 250. Not a flat spot on er. I am dedicating the split to Pauly Walnuts as it's cool, weird and probably way off. A 1/32 scale plaque will be made. To everyone in Calgary I am not stopping until this track works. To everyone else happy racing from RMR
Hey race fans…today’s race recap brought to you by our sponsors
The working title for today’s races was “Don’t talk about the war” … apparently the Germans are still a little sensitive about WWII. Truly it was Manic Madness at Mugello as the Germans rolled in 3 classes. To establish a beachhead, Carrera DTM tanks rolled up powered by Pirahna motors to move all that strudel.
Speaking of which, we finally answered the age old question, how many club members does it take to put the guide assembly back together for a DTM….the answer is 4. While the collective brainpower was focused on putting Roger the Dodger’s DTM back together…new folks were amazed at their practice laps. While slower people were feeling pretty good about themselves…until…everyone realized the track power was set a 6v. Once it was reset to 10v, tears reappeared.
Did someone say tears? Fozzy did it. I mean he finally did it. A
all those years threatening us finally came to be. All decked out like a bride to be, Fozzy showed up sported his sparkly “best marshal” sash.
I don’t know if it was the change back to 10v or Fozzy’s pink sheen, but Roger won his first heat living up to his sandbagging ways, narrowly edging out Okotoks Bob. Emboldened by his sash, Fozzy stormed out of the gates taking top step the class podium!
Next up was a host class of Slot.it DTM. These little Alfas were smoother than Fozzy lines at the discotheque. Maybe a little too smooth, as Fozzy got wrapped up in some carnage claiming foul play. After the heat, the race director had Fozzy point on the doll whee he was touched 🤣 Bob started to get his groove as did Goldilocks. Meanwhile former club member Stenio aka the Terminator looked to be in his element with those pretty little Alfas.
But the story of the day shaping up was Alex aka Thumbdrive. Keen eyes were noting he was running neck and neck with local trackmieister Luigi Fuggadaboutit. While Fozzy couldn’t make up his mind whether to wear or not wear the sash, No Hands showed that maybe the double armed amputee may be most deserving.
Group 5 closed off proceedings with Roger and Goldilocks winning heats, while some of the closest racing of the day was a 3 way between two men and a bear. The Terminator remained Valiant in his teal Porsche but vowed he will be back….calculating heavier than ever!
All in all, some great on track battles between the three groupings that mainly raced each other. Goldilocks showed she’s back to form while Kenny was steady….but Alex gave Luigi all he could handle in one of the closest races ever at Mugello for top spot…just maybe 1 or 2 deslots difference. Meanwhile Kenny edged out Fozzy by only 2.1 laps.
Thanks to the new folks for their bravery around all the chicanery and tomfoolery. Definitely a lot of laughs today!
Pictures don’t do the paint on this car justice
Anyone care for the new NSR Corvette C8R?
NSR - Factory
Did someone say “May the 4th?”
Friday pay day….
Racing this Sunday should be good…despite missing some regulars- looking like a great turnout.
Race classes will be the Carrera tanks…’er modern DTM (with an upgraded 21.5k Pirahna motor permitted)
A host class, lots of chose from…maybe Slot.it DTM? LMPs? Ninco McLaren F1GTR? Anything faster than Carrera 😉
And finally, Racer Sideways Group 5 rocket ships will close out the day.
Mmmmm…..CanAm on my mind. This Thunderslot Lola Spyder is the current, non-proxy car, track record holder at Mugello.
A public service announcement for slotters…which we all ignore!
Another Slot.it Group C enduro in the books!
Today’s race recap brought to you by Castrol…l**e it up!
Some kind of day for the Group C enduro. Turns out marshals can get rusty … and easily distracted with math, eh Matt?
Goldilocks was back to find her just car was just right. Solid race for Krista as she asserted her dominance climbing all over Fozzy Bear.
Speaking of which Triple T and No Hands finally took their relationship to the next level with Tom’s Rothmans carrying Ken’s Lancia down the straight right over the finish line. I still feel jipped because Ken didn’t even tip me?!
King Richard stepped away from lording over the SW to make an appearance showing he was still “race ready”. After a qually session, the teams stacked up with Tom and new guy Roger aka Roger the Dodger to drive a Rothmans Porsche. No Hands and Goldilocks went Euro with their Italian-French infused Malardeau Lancia. While the King and his bear Fozzy would l**e up with a Castrol Shaguar.
Racing kicked off with the first ten minute driver stint, but the Marshalls clearly weren’t quite ready. Poor Richard, carnage corner got the best of him…that shaking wasn’t excitement….maybe more PTSD?
Speaking of Richard, his teaming with Fozzy was going well….until Matt started talking about “slugs”. And no, not your garden variety…picture Vaseline, and naked men sliding across hardwood….yes, that visual cannot be undone!
While racing was close, The King-Bear combo were leading by around 4 laps going into the final rotation…but then lunch happened. Coming out of lunch Roger found his groove. Now affectionately known as the Sandbagger, Roger had his best round on the middle green lane in the last stint which was the difference maker. Interestingly, Roger raced a full 1.6 seconds quicker in the race than his qually time. Racer stewards will be asking for a post race “sample”.
In the end Roger and Tom edged out the Royal Bear combo with Team No Goldy just behind. Great day of racing and nice to see lots of smiles (yeah Roger, talking about you my friend) and laughs by all.
For the next race, we anticipate foot wear will be all the rage after Fozzy’s trendsetting Fablethics!
Looking like we will have at least teams racing in the latest Slot.it Group C endurance race aka Slolt.it Trofeo Enduro at Mugello on April 14!
Rumor has it that an arms race is well underway to beat the host Luigi Fuggadaboutit. Meanwhile Fozzy Bear is busy plotting his own demise to keep his expectations low while No Hands car may either busy Scheisser-ing or be crying Malardeau? Maybe Badger’s Circuit liveried Sauber Mercedes destroy the hopes and dreams of local racers?
Stay tuned, the new mystery racer Roger the Dodger may have something to say 😉
