Sunday was a great day for Faelyn and her new family! They were perfect together and were so sweet and gentle. Faelyn and her relative Allegra were abandoned at with a note saying their owner had passed away… Happy Tails Faelyn!!

Today’s the day!

Today millions of people will donate across the world to charities important to them. Giving Tuesday is important for us because a substantial amount of donations that come in are used to propel us into the coming year and allow us to continue providing necessary services to the community and the animals we rescue. Veterinary services are costly and food/litter are a constant need. It is expensive to rescue animals and while we know we can’t save them all, the ones we do save we make sure they get WHATEVER they need and are provided the very best care while they await their wonderful adopters to discover them. Some cats we have for many many years once we rescue them. The costs keep coming and the only way we can survive is through support from donors like you. We here at Second Chance Kitty are all volunteers, no one is paid and we often reach into our own pockets for supplies and necessities. 🗞️Congratulations to Raymond🗞️

Raymond was adopted at our Jackson Petco Adoption Center Saturday! Raymond has been in rescue since he was 6 weeks ok… he’s THE best boy, gets on well with EVERYONE and is 1.5 YEARS OLD now! He was so lucky to catch the eye of his new mommy who just was thrilled to have him and she has another cat at home who needs a companion. Win! Win!

We also had this little adorable visitor that we couldn’t help sharing her cute little face and cheeks! Thanks for coming by and precious Laramie to show your support and spread some love ❤️.

Huge should out to our Manteca peeps who came down to our adoption center at Manteca Petco to show support! We had fun chatting with other feline fanatics and just hanging out. A lot of our kittens came out to say hello too!

Huge thank you to our volunteers who came out Saturday to our adoption center in the Elk Grove Petco for the adoption event! We had a great time and gave a chance for some our kitties to be seen!

Super grateful to Karin and everyone who shared and engaged with our posts and of course our amazing foster Megan Shipley through all her obstacles still made this happen. Amazing! Who wants to hear something incredible!? One of our fantastic foster moms (we have the BEST foster families) is so very gifted and finished this beautiful vintage quilt for us to use to raise rescue funds in a silent auction.

We’re here to tell you this woman is amazing! She is currently caring for 12 foster cat/kittens, her own pets, raising children, working as a bookkeeper and BATTLING CANCER!! We appreciate her so much and are truly blessed to have her on our team. Her selflessness is so admirable, even in the midst of this difficult season in life. The piece work was originally made sometime in the 70-80’s and the finished quilt is 78 x 90, which should fit nicely on a queen size bed. Can we show her and the kitties some love and start the bidding at $200?

Meet Jazpurr! Jazpurr was found trotting around a Stockton neighborhood and found a lady who loves cats. The kind woman took a liking to Jazpurr and decided to help him have a better life and brought him inside her home. Jazpurr gets along really well with other cats and he knows how to win them over. He can even get older cats to play and brings out their kitten side. Jazpurr also likes to help with chores and be by your side. He enjoys a good cuddle and attention. Jazpurr’s favorite game is to hide the toy balls and help you find them. He makes his foster mom laugh so much she cries sometimes. Jazpur is a jazzy little guy full of love. Happy Mother’s Day!!

Update on Miley. Yesterdays vet visit went fairly well. She had an exam, labs, urinalysis, X-rays the works. Her labs for the most part looked good with the exception of her liver values. Doctor wants to do a month of liver support and recheck labs. Due to the liver values Miley wasn’t a safe candidate for anesthesia at this time. She was also prescribed antibiotics for her mouth issues as well as an upper respiratory infection she seems to be having now. The X-rays showed some sutures in abdomen indicative of spaying and a few vertebrae are fusing due to age related degeneration. Her hearing seems to be impaired and visually seems to get by enough. She’s had her first night at “home” with her foster family and has done well. She’s quiet and reserved of course and has a long road ahead to trusting people and feeling confident about herself and her surroundings. We’ll continue to shower her with love in the meantime. We’ll follow up with vet in 30 days to see if we can get those dreadful teeth removed. The estimate attached is what was done yesterday. Her teeth removal will be a different story. Bless the broken road that led me straight to you. Miley’s transformation has begun. Huge shout out to at for working her magic on Miley and giving her a piece of herself back. Huge shout out to who’s always ready at a moments notice to help an animal in need. We are so grateful to have you on our team and appreciate your help with Miley! Amazing foster mom award goes to for fostering this angel face. Fostering saves lives. Miley’s life was spared because we have a foster for her. Maybe the largest shout out of all to who’s just doing what she does, sharing dogs, getting them attention… and we saw Miley. If we hadn’t seen her I shudder to think what would have happened, so huge thanks.

As you can see, Miley is looking like a million bucks. Underneath all of those tight mats, most of her skin was amazingly in pretty good condition. Her nails were very long, but they are OK. Probably the worst part of this was her lady parts. The hair was so tightly matted, that it pulled her lady parts to the side of her body. Every time she urinated, it would travel an unnatural route, into a mat where it would solidify. Her feet were pretty awful as they were caked with urine like concrete. Small portions had to be clipped and then the urine manually broken in order to proceed. I can only imagine she has been locked in a crate, or someplace where she was standing in her own urine and f***s. She has definitely had some trauma and abuse. She is hand shy, and does tremble at times. She will learn over time that those days are over.

Next steps
She has an appointment tomorrow morning where she will have amazing care. We will be doing bloodwork and urinalysis. If the results are favorable, we will proceed with surgery and remove the rotten teeth so she can begin to heal. This will be costly and donations are very much needed.
