Played many amazing gigs with the great trumpeter Patrick Hues in Oud Blues, Philly Bloco and other incarnations. He once brought me to a recording session with Don Was….He was a pleasure to work with, funny and a brilliant soul- very sad to hear of his passing. RIP Pat, you will be missed💜💜

Happy birthday to my amazing, beautiful and talented lady! I took this pic while we were at hawk mountain in Pennsylvania and we had just learned a few weeks earlier that we were pregnant with Desmond. What a wild ride it’s been! On a clear day you can see forever skylark, love you 💜
Very excited to announce the release of Channel Collective’s debut EP on today May 4th, 2023!!
Channel Collective was formed in 2021 with the hope of collaborating with some of our favorite musicians, through mostly recorded, improvised music. The project has been ever evolving and we have produced a treasure trove of recorded material with really incredible musicians/artists. “ Tales in Real Time” is the first release of many to come…It really takes a village to make this stuff happen these days and none of this could of been possible without the superb recording engineering of Zack Spangler , the beautiful art, design promo and video footage of Sarah Shaak , Scott Schaffer at Right Brain Records with his generous help with the final edits and mastering, Dion Paci with stellar mixing and mastering, Mr. Bill Busch creator of Patchwork studios for creating an amazing home base recording studio to enable all of this to be a reality! And last but not least Susan Spangler for being an amazing host and support for our little one Baby D! Tales in Real time is out today across all digital platforms!! Link to our band camp is at the top of our page!
*Big News!! - a new project by drummer Justin Leigh and myself will be releasing its debut EP- Tales in Real Time- on Bandcamp and across all streaming platforms by this Thursday May 4th, 2023! Thanks to everyone involved and hope you enjoy!

Channel Collective EP drops May 4th on right brain records!!
A few of us almost didn’t make it alive to this one due to apocalyptic storms last Saturday but glad we all survived to bring the jazz to people! Grateful for the sustenance that the machine provides- fun stuff with super cats , and the king Joseph Falcey
A little arrangement of the Peter, Paul and Mary song “hush a bye” (all the pretty horses) It’s a lullaby that Sarah sang to Desmond when he was first born and I really fell in love with the melody. Here’s a little iphone snippet of the recording- with Dion Paci on bass and Justin Leigh on drums.
Great fun to play John and Peter’s once again with the BOC! It’s been a minute. Thanks for the pic sis!

Another good night last night at gypsy bar with band and double horn bonanza with Good times! #
Interesting gig with maestros Steve Varner and Jim Holton in a mysterious warehouse off a highway in NJ. Slightly reminiscent of a David Lynch film when the comic did his ventriloquist bit but all and all good fun😂! Always good work from the machine🙏
Remembering Dominick Mancini. Such an amazing human taken way to soon. Hard to believe that he’s gone and will deeply miss this talented and sweet soul RIP❤️
Good choice Desmond👍👍
A great week of music this past week with the MCCC faculty concert and jazz band concert ala , Aerial Photograph at the Rotunda and recording session the following morning and a private party jazzy jazz gig with the kings!
Super excited to play with guitarist and composer extraordinaire, Matt Davis and his ensemble “Aerial Photograph” at the Rotunda in west Philly tomorrow night. I was lucky enough to be a part of Matt’s group in the earlyish 2000s and all of the performances and recordings we did were some of my favorite musical experiences. Matt’s unique writing and guitar stylings are something to behold!
A little more info….
Bowerbird is pleased to present Matt Davis’ Aerial Photograph. The ensemble will perform Davis’ recent compositional suite, The Sway of Rivers, exploring the elusive nature of time: how it is inconsistently felt, marked, and expressed in sound
Fun jazzy jazz private party last night with killer cats 🙀, ,
Here is a new release from a new project of mine with drummer Justin Leigh. The project “Dichotomous” was formed during the end of the pandemic in hopes of capturing and recording improvised and composed music of notable Philadelphia musicians. The sessions were not only for capturing live music but also for reconnection among so many great relationships formed years ago while performing in a dozen or so bands while living in Philadelphia. We are currently in the process of creating an EP from these various sessions which will be released in early 2023. The musicians on this track:
Justin Leigh - drums
Greg Snyder - guitar
Jon Thompson - baritone sax
Mike Taylor - bass
Engineer and spiritual advisor - Zack Spangler
Mixed and edited - Scott Schaffer
Inspirational consultant - Sarah Shaak
Many thanks to Bill Busch and Susan Spangler for making this all possible!
