Bumps on my arms and thighs 💪🏼🦵🏼What are they?! 🧐

🤓They are called Keratosis Pilaris - sometimes called “chicken skin,” is a common skin condition with dead skin cells plugging hair follicles that causes patches of bumps to appear on the skin.

You’re more likely to have keratosis pilaris
▪️if someone in your family has it.
▪️or if you have, dry, fair or light skin.
▪️also certain skin conditions, like eczema.
 
If you don’t like the look of your keratosis pilaris, here are some home remedies that you can try!
 
🛁Take warm baths - help to unclog and loosen pores
 
🟡 Use both Chemical & Physical Exfoliators – Use a mixture of glycolic and lactic acid treatments and physical exfoliation that will diminish buildup and skin feel softer.
 
🧴Apply hydrating lotion - with alpha hydroxy acid (AHAs) like lactic acids can hydrate dry skin and encourage cell turnover. 
 
👖Avoid tight clothes - it can cause friction that can irritate the skin.
 
💦Use humidifiers - add moisture to the air in a room, which can maintain the moisture in your skin and prevent itchy flare-ups.

Stretch marks come about when your skin stretches rapidly. This can be from getting taller, a change in weight or perhaps you’ve welcomed a 👶🏻into the family. As the skin stretches, elastin fibres can tear, and hello stretch marks!

Here are some tips on what we can do about them.

Winter is here, babes. It’s getting so cold and dry. 🥶 Here are some Winter Skincare Tips for you! ❄️☃️

1️⃣💕Double Soft Cleanse – “Thoroughly” but “gently clean your face. Use an oil-based cleanser first then your regular cleanser. The oil will ensure that you give your skin extra moisture. If you don’t have an oil-based cleanser. You can use olive oil or avocado oil. They are effective and so nutritious. The only thing is they may take extra time to wash off.
2️⃣🧡Gently Exfoliate – This step is also so important to buff away / detox the dead skin cells that has been accumulating in this cold season and bring back your baby-soft skin.
3️⃣💛Mask – Masks gives you that extra nourishing treatment. You can pick a more nourishing mask to give you that extra moisturization.
4️⃣🤍Steam Your Face – This step opens up your pores. Bring a pot of water to boil. Hover your face above the bowl and drape a towel over your head to concentrate the steam to your facial pores for about ten minutes.
5️⃣💜Double up on Moisturizer / Serum – As we move in to Winter, the skin can easily get dehydrated. A heavier moisturizer or serum will seal in all of your work in the previous steps without clogging your pores.

Here are 🌈5 of our favorite you-probably-have-them-at-home ingredients🌈 that will do great things to your skin (and are dermatologist-approved)!
🥑Avocado Hydration Mask (for dry skin) - 1 avocado, 2 tbsp plain yogurt, 1 tbsp olive oil, 1 tbsp honey
🥭Papaya Brightening Mask (for dull skin) - 1/2 cup mashed papaya, 1 tsp honey & 1 whipped egg white
🍌Banana Smoothing Mask (for acne prone) – 1 mashed banana, 1/2 tsp baking soda & 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
🥒Cucumber Soothing Mask (for rough skin) – ½ cucumber, 1/4 cup milk, 1 tbsp honey & 1 tbsp brown sugar
🍯Yogurt Calming Mask (for sensitive skin) – 1 tbsp yogurt, 1 tsp honey & 1 tsp cocoa powder

We often get asked – “Why did you create an “exfoliating mask treatment?” “What does exfoliating do?” “Is it really necessary to exfoliate? “How do you exfoliate the right way?” 💦Exfoliating technique is crucial for all skin types, but it is probably the most misunderstood. Here are some quick 🤓information for you!

1️⃣Exfoliation is physically or chemically removing those dead and dulling skin cells.
2️⃣Exfoliating helps speed up your skin's regeneration process for more youthful skin.
3️⃣Physical exfoliators work against the top layers of the skin to remove dead cells via circular massaging actions.
4️⃣Chemical exfoliants dissolve the intercellular glue that holds dead skin cells together. They pe*****te deeper into the skin and can be a great option for skin that has deep congestion.

How To Do it Right?
🔅Physical Exfoliation – apply a quarter size amount to moist skin and gently massage in a slow circular motion. Rinse off. Picture your pores getting cleaned! 1-3 times a week. 〽️

〽️Chemical Exfoliation – typically, you apply a thin layer to your face after cleansing. Usually you do not need to remove after a certain amount of time. Make sure to check the instructions. 💫For both methods, apply toner, moisturizer and serum as usual afterwards.
🌈 It is Important to exfoliate on a regular basis, just like how you regularly take vitamin supplements for your body. Consistency is key. This is how you get truly healthy “fit” skin!
