I’m beyond excited to share that I’ve been named Made In The South Awards winner! My handmade lighting won in the Home category (thank you !) and the magazine’s editors graciously named me as the overall winner. This lighting series blends my deep interest in traditional American handicrafts like embroidery and tramp style carving and explores the meaning and value of elevating the handmade in the home. We don’t use a shower curtain! I always meant to add one (I even made a custom ceramic tile to hold a curtain rod) but it’s such a small space, the tile is so pretty and we’ve figured out how to get things done w/out too much splashing.
Would you go curtain/free?

This little jewelry series was inspired by pressing flowers in a little press as a kid. Now my kids use the same press and it’s such a nice little analog activity for the handfulls of flower heads my 2 year old comes with after an evening stroll (sorry nature)🙈🌸

Anyway, I love how these pieces layer sweetly with others and the handmade pendants add a lot of fun texture and interest next to the gemstone beads. I’m inspired by the idea that illuminating our homes with affirmational images and messaging can be a ritual, like a prayer or meditation helping us to center uplifting truths within our spaces.

I want my kids to grow up reading these messages in our home so they know them to be our family mission statements - our foundation. I want love, gratitude and pride to be their inner mantras. I find that I need those reminders every day, too.
