Hey folks. I'm starting a second job soon, and with the 3-month old baby and full-time potter wife, I just won't have time to keep the business going in it's current form.

I still think I'll find an opportunity to take it to the next level. But that isn't my priority right now.

07/12/2022

I'll be selling bags of coffee beans and brewing some free hot coffee at Camden FireWorks for this event on Friday and Saturday featuring various local artists and live music. Come hang out and shop local.

This Friday and Saturday, some of the artists at FireWorks are hosting an open studio market with live music and a variety of artworks including pottery, paintings, leather goods and jewelry.

Come wind down as you finish your holiday shopping !

Mexico Chiapas coffee beans are now available on the website.

Full syrupy mouthfeel, delicately sweet and subtly complex.

"This coffee comes from smallholders located in the town of Chimhucum high in the Los Altos mountains of Chiapas.
Chimhucum, meaning "Two rivers" in the Tzotzil language, as a micro-climate is characterized by a wet and cold climate for much of the year.

Growers in Chimhucum take great care to respect the land. Coffee is shade-grown and sustainable practices such as composting and water treatment are employed.
The farmers here pay equal attention to processing.
In this lot, Sachimor, Caturra, and Catui varietals were hand-depulped and processed using the semi-washed method. During this process, the producers fermented the coffees for between 6-12 hours resulting in exceptional fruit and medium-bright acidity."

ANNOUNCEMENT:
Two coffees are now active on the website.
- Light roast Ethiopia Natural Process
- Dark Roast Organic Honduras

I do also have a medium roast from Mexico going up soon, but I still need to sample the last roast. I'll be doing that tomorrow and hopefully adding it to the site then.

Also, since I've been in the dark a bit trying to figure things out. Y'all should know I'll unfortunately be putting the coffee trike on the sidelines for the rest of the year.

That was so fun to do this year, and I am so thankful to the regulars that came to support it.
But it was a LOT of work to operate. It was growing, but so is my website where I sell my roasted coffee.
I realized I could not sustainably grow both by myself.

Once I am able to grow this business enough to bring in some partners or employees, and find commercial space in Camden, I'll be able to get it going again. But the coffee roasting is much more sustainable and will make it easier to focus on my family, since we have a baby on the way in December.

To those of you who visited the coffee trike, and complimented my setup and my products, I felt the love. I can not wait until I am better equipped to get it back out on the streets of Camden.

I am still open to bringing to events in Camden, so reach out if interested in that.

Getting some coffee bean delivery done by bike this morning.

For the new followers of the coffee trike. I also do local delivery of my home roasted coffee beans in Camden and the surrounding region.
You can find that by clicking on the link for the website in our bio.

The last week and a half since launching the coffee trike has my inventory a little low, but I'll be able to roast this week.

Also, due to a prior schedule conflict, I won't be able to bring the coffee trike downtown on Wednesday, but after this week I should be able to start some good consistent routines.

Thanks for all the support this last week y'all, it feels amazing to see a vision of mine finally getting some legs underneath it.

The coffee trike will be set up tomorrow on the Camden Waterfront near the Aquarium from 11-2 or until supplies last.

This will be a little bit of a soft run for me.
It will be the first time going out during business hours without an event.
And I'll also be riding the trike from my house, so I'll only be serving cold brew coffee because the trike will have limited space on it.

But this was the original business plan, to have the flexibility to show up and serve coffee to high foot traffic areas.
Let's get rollin!

Shout out to for helping me get the trike going again.

I'm forever a novice bike mechanic. And a big weakness is 3 speed internal hubs.
I even didn't get a bike mechanic job one time because they asked me to assemble one. After a half hour, and the interviewer not thinking it would've taken so long started sweating, I said I can't figure it out.

So when I was putting the trike back together and couldn't figure out how to get the shifter cable back in the hub and adjust the shifting, I reached out to the local mobile bike mechanic.

And now we're are back in gear and ready to roll!

So the expo is huge. Today was a tad overwhelming and I mostly just got a lay of the land. Tomorrow hopefully I'll be able to attend some seminars and get my brain working.

NEW PRODUCTS! You can now get a ceramic pour-over or serving pitcher from our website.
I also have a limited amount of V60 filters. (Which we use in the Works of Hope pour-over.)

I brew coffee in a Works of Hope pour-over almost every morning.
If you're interested in one, I can give you lots of brewing tips and recipes. If you buy one, I'll include your first pack of 100 filters.

The pitcher is great if you brew a pour-over for more than one person, or want your coffee or tea to stay hot longer. If you buy one, I'll include a free bag of coffee.

What's in a name?
First, obviously, "Costa Rica" is where this coffee is from. The farm is called Rancho Grande, which is the sister farm to La Minita, one of my favorite coffee growers.

"Pacamara" is a varietal of coffee bush that grows larger than normal beans that normally have nuanced fruity tones. They are also known to be somewhat difficult to cultivate and are highly sought after.

Lastly, "Natural" is the processing method of this coffee. Natural processed coffee cherries are first left in the sun on raised beds, or put in lightly heated drying machine, where the cherries ferment slightly, like raisins, imparting fruity notes onto the beans, (which are actually the seeds of the cherries.)

Hit the link in the bio to buy a bag of this coffee.

Camden exhibition highlights timeless beauty of Mexican women 19/03/2022

Come to Camden FireWorks tomorrow from 3-5 pm to catch this beautiful photography exhibit.
I'll also be selling bags of coffee in the Works of Hope studio and brewing free samples.

Camden exhibition highlights timeless beauty of Mexican women 'Tiempo y Belleza' is 35 portraits of women ranging from their early 20s to their 80s. The photographs capture their struggles, but also their joy, strength and vibrancy.

Timeline photos 16/03/2022

Come to Camden FireWorks this Sunday, March 20th from 3-5 for what will be an amazing gallery photography show.
I'll be set up in the Works of Hope gallery selling coffee beans and brewing free samples.

This Sunday, March 20 is the opening reception to Thom Goertel’s exhibition, Tiempo y Belleza (Time and Beauty).

Featuring women from Cuernavaca Mexico, Goertel captured the portraits through a lens of deep feeling, shot in just five days in 36 sometimes hard-to-find places. As we consider the beauty of their faces and the spaces they make with everyday heroism, let us not fail to ask why their courage, strength and resilience are necessary, why they must be luchadoras in their daily lives.

About the artist
Since high school, Thom Goertel has had the pleasure of a life spent making pictures, in a variety of media: animation, video, graphics and, with his first true love, photography. With his still camera, he has shot deep in the desert, on the Amazon, in the back streets of Shanghai and in Yellville, Arkansas.

His work has been published in a variety of books and publications, including National Geographic, the Sun Magazine and the Wall Street Journal. Goertel’s work has shown over the last twelve years in Philadelphia, Washington DC, Portland OR and Minneapolis MN.

Back in Camden and finished today's deliveries. Now I'm firing up the Bullet to roast some more cause y'all got close to emptying some of the coffees out of my inventory. This is the closest I've been to selling out before I can roast again.
Thanks so much folks!

I ordered two new coffees. One should arrive Friday, which I'll start sampling and trying out for the next week.
The other is on a boat somewhere in some ocean. So not sure on the ETA of that one. They said Feb-March arrival.
But I can't wait to try some new things soon.
My business Instagram is still not letting me post, so I'll try to post on here more for now.
