Hi Everyone,

This is Leah Mitchell the SYSA ref coordinator.

I know everyone is happy to have kids in soccer and want to win. I know that it can be frustrating sometimes when a call is wrong or missed. However, if you have a concern regarding a ref:

PLEASE SPEAK WITH YOUR COACH WHO CAN BRING YOUR CONCERNS TO ME - DO NOT APPROACH THE REF

We are only three weeks in and there have already been parents & coaches not behaving in a adult manner to these kids. Because that's what they are, they are kids.

They are kids who are LEARNING. This is not the world cup, we are a rec soccer league. Mistakes will be made, calls will be missed.

Many of the ref's starting this year are new. It's not an easy thing to follow the ball, watch the calls, try to see what is going on around you all the while having parents and coaches on the sidelines yelling at them.

It takes time, and many games to develop confidence in their ability. Plus confidence to stand up to coaches & parents who argue with their decisions.

Most of our refs are between the ages of 12-17, so please think about that before you start shouting rude comments, getting mad because they missed something, approaching them to complain.

Once again if you have an issue with a ref speak with your coach who can contact me. Otherwise what the ref says goes (right or wrong)

Soccer is canceled tonight due to weather

Just a reminder Mini Soccer photos are next week on Monday & Wednesday. An email went out regarding times.

Not sure about soccer cleats?

Soccer cleats DO NOT have a toe cleat. Refs check the cleats at every game. Players will not be allowed to play if their cleats are wrong.

Just a reminder that:
- U15 games start tonight
- U10/U12 games start tomorrow (Tuesday)
- Mini soccer starts Wednesday

As well:
- NO pets on the soccer fields
- All coaches & committee members are volunteers, we do the best that we can.
- Ref's are teenagers learning to ref, PLEASE be kind and understand that they will make mistakes.

Just a reminder no indoor soccer today due to a tournament at the high school!

There is another tournament at the high school on Feb 10.

There will be NO INDOOR SOCCER FEB 10.

We will start back up on Feb 17 , and just extend into April! Everyone has been emailed as well.

We just found out that there's a basketball tournament this weekend at the high school (and centennial is fully booked for the day also)

Indoor soccer will start next weekend on Jan 20th. And email will also be sent out.

Emails have been sent out regarding indoor soccer. We still have a few spots in our U10 (at 1:30) and our U12 (at 2:30)

1:30 U10 (kids turning 9 & 10)
2:30 U10/U12
3:30 U12 (kids turning 11 & 12)
4:30 U15/U18 (anyone turning 13 and older)

Please NOTE, times & age groups might change a bit depending on who registers. These times/dates are not set in stone.

Excited to announce that we have been approved for another session of indoor soccer!!! Registration will be in December (just figuring out a date). It will still be on Saturday afternoons.😀

INDOOR SOCCER REGISTRATION:

As it's a bit last minute it will be paper registration with only CASH or CHEQUE accepted.

2. Sunday Sept 17 from 9-11am we will be at the Curling Rink Lower lobby to take registrations & payment. They will be first come first served. ( CASH or CHEQUE - made out to Stonewall Youth Soccer Association)

3. Cost is $150. This includes 10 week program & full uniform (soccer socks, shorts & shirt)
