Greetings all, hope your week is going well. The Dalmatian Club of Greater Indianapolis recently had the opportunity to donate $2000 to the AKC Canine Health Foundation research grant project for Improving Treatment of Canine Blastomycosis through Therapeutic Drug Monitoring. Thanks to everyone who supported our shows in February and our raffle, without you this donation would not have been possible, THANK YOU.

Blastomycosis (Blasto) is a fungus found in the soil that dogs can inhale resulting in a painful disease that impacts many parts of their body and requires a lengthy recovery period. Unfortunately in the Midwest and other parts of the impacted United States the occurrences of the disease appears to be increasing. The University of Illinois Veterinary School is conducting the study and we hope the results help dogs across the country in the future. Is it Love? Is it Art? DCAF Hopes It Is Both!

For the 2024 DCA National, DCAF will be holding the “Who Owns Your Heart?” Fundraising Event to be held prior to (online) and during the National at the Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter in Perry, GA on Wednesday, June 19.

ENTRIES

Calling all Dalmatian lovers, who also happen to be artistically inclined to participate.

There are a few “rules” though.

ABOUT THE ART

1. Any art medium is welcome – painting - acrylic, watercolor, oil, pen and ink, ceramic, fabric, (embroidery, cross stitch, crochet, quilting, batik) sculpture, glass - stained, fused or blown, photography, needle felting, jewelry, pottery, metal/iron work, leather or woodwork…what else? You tell us! The key words are ART and HEART!

2. The piece must be original (not from a kit).

3. The piece must incorporate our theme of “Who Owns Your Heart” which we all know are our spotted companions. So, think Dalmatians (at the very least spots and/or hearts).

4. Pieces should be signed by the artist and dated 2024.

5. Artists should be at least 18 years old.

ABOUT THE PROCESS

1. Notify Toni Linstedt of your entry by (4/1/24) with a brief description. (Art medium, size, how it incorporates your love of Dalmatians and/or hearts.)

2. A maximum of 50 pieces will be accepted for the silent auction.

3. If more than 50 artists submit, a committee will select the 50 to be accepted.

4. Please submit a quality photo of your finished piece to Toni Linstedt as soon as possible, but no later than (5/15/24). These will be used to showcase the pieces for remote bidding via the DCAF page.

5. Artists are responsible for getting their pieces to the National. If not attending, and you cannot find anyone to transport it, contact Toni Linstedt for shipping instructions.

ABOUT THE AUCTION

1. Pieces will be sold to the highest bidders in a silent auction conducted at the National on the day and evening of the Top Twenty.

2. A minimum bid of $25 will be set for each item.

3. Bids must be increased in increments no less than $5.

4. People unable to attend the National may place remote bids on the DCAF page. Remote bidding will conclude on (June 13, 2024). Live bidders on (June 19, 2024) will have to top the remote bid by $10 or 10%, whichever is greater.

The Dalmatian Club of Greater Indianapolis (DCGI) would like to express our appreciation for everyone who attend our Specialties and the Indy Classic this weekend.
