I recently had a friend start learning how to crochet, and she asked me where to go for good beginner patterns. The only places I would send her to (online) were places I knew that the patterns had seen a tech editor. This friend decided to use a free pattern that they found on a blog, then called me up, saying that they were doing some thing wrong because their project didn’t match the picture. I took a look at their project. I took a look at the pattern. The pattern was full of errors and missing pieces. My poor friend was thinking that she had made mistakes herself when the real problem was that the pattern she found had never seen a tech editor. ⁣
