What is Microfinance according to Wikipedia “the free encyclopedia”
“Microfinance is usually understood to entail the provision of financial services to micro-entrepreneurs and small businesses, which lack access to banking and related services due to the high transaction costs associated with serving these client categories. The two main mechanisms for the delivery of financial services to such clients are (1) relationship-based banking for individual entrepreneurs and small businesses; and (2) group-based models, where several entrepreneurs come together to apply for loans and other services as a group. In some regions, for example Southern Africa, microfinance is used to describe the supply of financial services to low-income employees, which however is closer to the retail finance model prevalent in mainstream banking. For some, microfinance is a movement whose object is "a world in which as many poor and near-poor households as possible have permanent access to an appropriate range of high quality financial services, including not just credit but also savings, insurance, and fund transfers."[1] Many of those who promote microfinance generally believe that such access will help poor people out of poverty. For others, microfinance is a way to promote economic development, employment and growth through the support of micro-entrepreneurs and small businesses.”
Name & History of Vosskee
One beautiful morning, in January 2012 the name Vosskee, which is an Armenian word for GOLD or GOLDEN came to me in my meditation and prayer time. I had this name for five months and had so many ideas for a business, such as selling 100% organic soy candles, brand name clothing and etc., but for some reason I was not satisfied with the idea of simply purchasing and reselling a product without being involved in or doing anything creative with it. I knew that I needed to stay creative, but I didn’t know how. One day in May of 2012 a light bulb went on in my head so I put the two & two together Gold/Vosskee is = jewelry. I was very excited to finally be able to get some clarity and start creating. I am very content that at Vosskee, as I mentioned in the mission statement, not only we strive to present & create unique pieces for you all, but also our passion and humanitarian nature will allow us to help other Artisan’s globally and other deserving fellow humans with their businesses.
