-The Yoga Turtle.
The ancient practice of yoga is for everyone; Young or old, flexible or inflexible, thin or not, vegetarian or carnivore, tortoise or hare. Yoga has been a personal journey of transformation for many people, for thousands of years. One works at their own pace initially in support of a health or fitness goal but often realizes a profound impact on mind, body, and spirit. Yoga imparts wisdom, it is
grounding, and it is peaceful. As I contemplated on how yoga has impacted me since I began practicing in 2008, turtles popped into my mind. I immediately drew parallels between how ancient, wise, and grounding both turtles and yoga happen to be! I also remembered one of my favorites Aesop fables "The Tortoise and the Hare". Even though it started as a competition, the tortoise tried his best and did not worry about the hare. While most of us remember the moral to be “Slow and steady wins the race”, a more appropriate moral is “Work at your own pace, be true to who you are, you do not need the praise of others to accomplish your goals.”
Turtles remind me to stay grounded and to focus on my journey, allowing me to appreciate the ancient practice of yoga. As I work towards developing the business and scheduling yoga classes, I invite you to consider the information that gets posted to this site. Information shared will include current views on asana, meditation, food, and discussions. Perhaps some handmade gemstone jewelry will make appearances on the site from time to time!
