Joe Rice First Aid Training
Level 3 First Aid & Defibrillation Instructor based in West Devon.
I run interactive and practical first aid courses and community workshops across the South-West.
Brilliant! Always extra special at this school as a former student from Boasley, plus getting time to speak with the KS1 students. It's just as important that they know how to recoginse when someone needs help and having the confidence and knowledge to phone for help. Well done and thank you Boasley and Northlew PTFAs! ππ
Thank you to Joe Rice First Aid Training for visiting the children and training them to be "Mini Medics". We appreciate your time and the children thorughly enjoyed their time with you.
Some more great shots from last weeks session.

The HSE state that haemostatic dressings, tourniquets and wound packing materials (sterile gauze) may be required in addition to the standard first aid kit within a workplace.
They go on to state that training in the application of these products may be necessary in sectors such as agriculture, forestry and construction, and working locations in remote areas.
If you work in a higher risk environment then additional training should be considered.
The 3 day first aid at work can also include an extra module covering catastrophic bleeding control, alternatively, it can be arranged as a separate half day course.
Upcoming courses are fully booked so an extra date now available on the 19 April.
Shocking statistics discussed on BBC Radio 4 more or less last week.
Discussing NHS hospital trolley waits in England, the time from arriving in A&E and being admitted into hospital.
In December 2023, 44,000 people waited longer than 12 hours...
In December 2011 just 4 people waited longer than 12 hours... Long trolley waits were simply unheard of.
Even in the summer months without winter pressures last years best month was July with 24,000 waiting longer than 12 hours...
Without being too political... π
π¬ Jeremy Hunt became Health Secretary in 2012 with a target of reducing A&E waiting times...
Sadly these hospital wait times impact ambulance crews and their ability to respond to casualties in need before they even arrive in hospital...
