IWU NAMI On Campus

IWU NAMI on Campus aims to educate, advocate, and lead others in the pursuit of mental health rights and ending the stigma in regards to mental illness.

Illinois Wesleyan University's NAMI on Campus was formed to support students struggling with mental illness, and to support those who have peers who may be struggling. We aim to educate the campus about mental illness and counseling services available, advocate for mental health rights and lead the campus to end the stigma surrounding mental illness.

IWU turkey feathered with thankful thoughts BLOOMINGTON — Instead of plucking the feathers of a Thanksgiving “turkey,” students and others passing through the Dugout at Illinois Wesleyan University on Monday added construction paper “feathers.”

"There is no joy without gratitude." -Brené Brown

Thanks to those who contributed to our "positivity poultry!" Studies show that incorporating gratitude more into everyday life can improve sleep quality, reduce depressive symptoms, induce relaxation, and alleviate physical ailments. The area of positive psychology overall emphasizes building strengths, as opposed just correcting weaknesses. Positivity and gratitude are crucial parts of a solid base to improve overall well-being!

Keep your eyes open for our December event before finals! 💚

IWU had a fun time at the NAMI walk this morning; great way to start the day! Talk mental health💚

NAMIWalks: Keeping Hope Alive | NAMI: National Alliance on Mental Illness 19/09/2017

With the money raised from NAMIWalks, NAMI is able to provide free programs educating and advocating mental health awareness and wellbeing. Education classes, presentations, support groups, advocacy, & outreach are just some of the ways NAMI helps communities across the U.S.

This is not an event you want to miss.

NAMIWalks: Keeping Hope Alive | NAMI: National Alliance on Mental Illness It was a thrill to show up the morning of the walk, turning in the money I raised. I remember thinking that before my family needed NAMI, someone else took the time to walk and donate. Now it was my turn to raise money and walk for other families that unknowingly needed NAMI’s support.
