I’ll be out of office next week for a quick summer break. See you next month! ☀️
Sometimes you don't have the energy, the 'spoons', or the resources to do the things you feel you need to do in life. Life circumstances and all kinds of illness can get in the way, and so can guilt and burnout. Today, if all you can do is be here, that’s plenty.
“Live now; make now always the most precious time. Now will never come again.” — Captain Picard
Remember that you deserve safety, joy, and respect no matter what.
I’m committed to a non-directive psychotherapy practice that’s informed by the Health At Every Size movement. I’ll never tell you what to do with your body, or push you to look a certain way ‘for your health’. Being healthy looks different for everyone, so you can work on your emotional health no matter how you look.
I’ll travel with you through whatever journey you need to go through. It’s my job to have one ‘foot’ in your experiences through your therapy, so I can understand you as fully as I’m able, and one ‘foot’ outside of your experiences, so I can see different perspectives that might be helpful.
Are you looking for help from someone who knows what it’s like to be q***r? You’re in the right place! I specialise in helping trans and/or non-binary people become who they really are without judgement.
Hello, June - and hello, Pride Month! What are you hoping this summer will bring you?
Last week, Fox Therapy turned five years old!
What a profound joy it’s been to work with my community over the last five years in my private therapy practice. I’m so excited to see what happens over the next five years!
I’m now back in the Fox Therapy office, feeling rested and ready to see my clients!
Here’s the view from my therapy office whenever I’m meeting with clients.
Next week I’ll be away from the Fox Therapy office for a spring break. I’ll be back to answering emails and messages around the 21st of May. Have an amazing few weeks!
Sometimes it might feel like you’re too busy to stop, but taking time to rest is an important part of moving forward.
Taking a break can be an excellent way to make progress by recharging your energy and reassessing what you need to keep going. Even if you find that taking a break doesn’t help your goals, anything that allows you to recover and have fun will be excellent for your mental health.
You might start with a few moments of deep breathing or a couple of minutes spent outside.
If you’re in need of a grounding exercise, try ‘finding a rainbow’!
Look around you and spot an object for each of the colours of the rainbow - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, and pink.
I like to do this exercise outside during a gentle walk.
‘When the other person is hurting, confused, troubled, anxious, alienated, terrified; or when [they are] doubtful of self-worth, uncertain as to identity — then understanding is called for. The gentle and sensitive companionship offered by an empathic person… provides illumination and healing. In such situations deep understanding is, I believe, the most precious gift one can give to another.

The last few days have been particularly tough for trans people in the UK.
It feels important to reiterate that Fox Therapy is staunchly against all forms of conversion therapy. It is ineffective, unethical, unconscionable, and completely unnecessary.
I am committed to helping cis, trans, and non-binary people of all genders explore their authenticity and self-trust with warm, respectful, robust, evidence-based, affirmative therapy. I will never try to change anyone’s gender or sexuality. I am also working hard behind the scenes to fight against all forms of conversion therapy.
Trans children deserve to grow up, and all trans people deserve to access healthcare, safety, and joy.
I revisited this book recently and remembered how helpful it was in consolidating what I know about derealisation and depersonalisation. I really recommend it if you’d like to know more!
At Fox Therapy, we can talk about all kinds of different relationship types.
Whether you’re monogamous, polyamorous, a relationship anarchist, in an open relationship, in a q***r platonic life partnership, not at all interested in any relationships, or a combination of the above, I’m here to listen to your experiences.
I have training on, and experience with, diverse relationship types, so you won’t have to give me the 101!
Resilience is the skill of bouncing back from trouble, and the capacity for recovery after things have gone wrong.
Lots of people think this means learning to be tough, but it can also mean learning to relax and recover.
For you, resilience might look like challenging internalised negative thoughts, embracing who you are, telling yourself and other LGBTQ+ people that we’re worthy, and resting in all the ways that feel healthy to you.
If you’re feeling in any way out of sorts today, this can be a good grounding exercise to try!
Take a breath in for the count of four. At the top of the breath, say out loud or in your head, “I am safe.” Exhale for the count of four. At the bottom of the breath, repeat “I am safe.” Do this for as long as you like.
It can help to put a hand on your chest so you can feel your breath going in and out, if this doesn’t give you dysphoria.
What brings you comfort lately? I’m really enjoying short stories and weighted blankets right now!
Slowly and surely, it looks like spring is on the way. I’m looking forward to do lighter nights! How are you feeling about the turn of the season?
Are you looking for help from someone who knows what it’s like to be q***r? You’re in the right place! I specialise in helping LGBTQ+ people explore who they really are without judgement.
While we’re encouraged to think of how we can spoil our loved ones, how would you like to show yourself some love this Valentines Day?
How do you like to get out of your head and into the current moment? What helps you to feel grounded in yourself and your needs?
‘A person is a fluid process, not a fixed and static entity; a flowing river of change…’

I’m committed to an anti-racist and anti-colonial therapy practice, which means I’ve been directing the resources I can towards a free Palestine. This global strike week, I’m devoting extra time and energy towards calls for a ceasefire and support for those affected.

Sometimes it might feel like you’re too busy to stop. If you’re working on something important, it might feel like taking a break will stop your progress or even set you back.
Taking time to rest is an important part of moving forward. Taking a break can be an excellent way to make progress by recharging your energy and reassessing what you need to keep going. Even if you find that taking a break doesn’t help your goals, anything that allows you to recover and have fun will be excellent for your mental health.
Who’s in your support system as you head into 2024? Who in your life treats you with respect, compassion, and mutual trust? Is there anyone you want to spend more time with, or anyone who doesn’t give you what you need right now?
A therapist that you click with can be a great addition to your support network!
Fox Therapy is now back open for 2024! I’m looking forward to everything this year will bring for us.
