Working at a non-profit can mean doing things with smaller budgets (just because the sets and costumes look extravagant on stage, doesn’t mean we all aren’t minimizing our budgets backstage). I take pride in my “scrappiness” and ability to make something out of nothing. Generally I can get 1 or 2 dancers for a campaign shoot, I raid the costume shop, and I’m thrilled if I can get more than an hour. But Pacific Northwest Ballet Artistic Director, Peter Boal had this idea for Themes and Variations - he suggested all 16 corps and apprentice women. We said HECK YES. So I got to spend 3 (THREE!!!!) hours running all over McCaw Hall with this talented group of women, making some images I’m proud to say I shot. There’s more that will be coming out soon - can’t wait to share. Thank you to all the dancers for going along with my “look candid!”s and being creative with me along the way.

Thank you for sharing this with us, ! 🙌💫🌚⭐️ Posted • This body is just the keeper of my magic; who CARES where it folds or dimples. We all have so much magic and love to bring into this world and most of us are not even aware of it because we get caught up in how we perceive ourselves or how OTHERS perceive us. .
NOW, Just because I am aware of this, that doesn’t make me immune...but damn it I’m a work in progress and most days now, the kind and gentle voice comes in quickly after the mean girl. The one that says “stephanie, you have so much to do in this life and it will have nothing to do with this. So don’t focus on what doesn’t matter. Eat well. Move when you want to move, but don’t fixate my dear. Don’t get lost in the noise.” .
So save this and remind yourself of this when you have a day where you’re mean girl is too loud. I put it in my stories so you can screen grab it.

"A New Me Was Born": Evan Rachel Wood Shares Her Experience In A Mental Hospital 02/02/2019

tw: discussion of su***de, PTSD, r**e, and addiction

This is a long but wonderful read from an actor I've admired for a long time.

"A New Me Was Born": Evan Rachel Wood Shares Her Experience In A Mental Hospital Mental health famously has a stigma around it. We are more likely to call in sick with a cold, than to say we're depressed. We are more likely to get sympathy for a broken arm, than we are for a bout of debilitating sadness. But we know these things are real and they affect all of us in some form or

Click here to support Thesis Dance Films organized by Sarah Hartman 20/01/2019

Sarah is one of the best people that I met through Tumblr. First, I just admired her from afar and reblogged all of her beautiful ballet photos. Then, I reached out to her. Now, we've been friends for years. She's now working on her thesis, which will be a dance video exploring diaspora, homelessness, and other big issues. She's very close to her fundraising goal, with the money being used for filming equipment, costuming, etc.

If you can spare a few dollars, please consider helping her out. If you can't, please share this!
