Beautiful Alvin and friends huddled in their barn earlier this week to escape the rain.
Meet Mr. Red!
When a friend asked us to baby sit her large farm pig while she moved, we said "of course". Red is super fun and gregarious and was especially happy to have other pigs as companions when he arrived here. When our friend saw how happy he was she asked if we would keep him with his new friends and again we said "of course"! Red has been a great addition to the farm and likes to run along the fence line and chase the farm vehicles back and forth. Welcome to the farm Mr. Red!!
Certain boys requested a shower today in the heat of the day!
One peahen stole all the peachicks from the other hens. They are typically terrible mothers, but she's doing a great job!
Sweet Alvin .. he's almost 20 .. and still hanging in there. He's enjoying these cooler days. July was brutally hot and humid. It almost feels fall like so far in August.
Bahbah, Moomoo, and Argyle ..
Just hitching a ride in the hay wagon!
Happy Independence Day!
Sharing for educational purposes. This is our shearer, but not our goat.
Who wants to kiss this sweet face? Such a love bug!
We hired a new pest controll crew. This trio was attending training while the other four were practicing evasive maneuvers skills in the litterbox.
Today's quote from our very own Dolly Llama: “As you breathe in, appreciate the heat, humidity and Canadian wildfire smoke. As you breathe out, remember that winter will be here again in six months.”
Sasha is ready for the holiday weekend!!
After 10 years as Stonewall Acres Farm, we have decided to change our name to be more inline with our direction as the farm has evolved. Welcome to Hee Haw Hollow Farm!
Woody is ready for Saint Patrick’s day!
Our Story
Stonewall Acres is a 22 acre, first generation- family owned and operated farm - located in Central Virginia, just 15 minutes outside of Lynchburg. We started off with a focus on vegetable farming using nature’s symbiotic relationships to our advantage. However, we started taking in disabled farm animals, then healthy animals started to follow with an emphasis on donkeys. The animals have become a full time job leaving little time to farm so we have replaced veggies with less time intensive crops. Luffa’s and herbs are our mainstay but we also occasionally sell chickens, ducks and peafowl as they all have a tendency to proliferate at a fast pace.
All proceeds from Stonewall Acres Farm fund our efforts to provide sanctuary to farm animals in need.
