LOCO is committed to bringing local and organic foods and awareness to The Ohio State University community.
LOCO was founded in January 2013 by its current president, Maddie Hutchinson in hopes of bringing together people who love to cook and are focused on eating local and organic foods. Today, we have an ever growing number of student members and continue to look for students to join us! We provide a variety of events and awareness opportunities to our students including: local speakers, volunteer act
ivities, community dinners, cooking demonstrations, and of course, taste testing! The objectives of the organization include:
1) Creating a comfortable and enjoyable community of students with a passion for food and sustainable living!
2) Educate the community about where to obtain local and organic foods, how to both grow and prepare these foods, and why it is important for students to do this.
3) Provide interactive opportunities for students to experience organic and local foods through community dinners, hands on experience at the student farm, and collaboration with organic and local initiatives in the Columbus community.
4) Invite members of local businesses and campus educators who incorporate local and organic food systems into their daily professional activities to group meetings and campus events.
