Well Of Hope -
A little girl's quest to bring clean, safe drinking water to a village in Liberia. ( So all totaled Hope raised $532.27 !!! God Bless!!!!
“Well Of Hope” started when Hope Burki saw a video segment on one of her Veggie Tales DVDs about a little girl who made Christmas cards and sold them to raise money for building a well in Africa. Hope decided then that she also wanted to do something to help bring clean, safe drinking water to those who did not have it. After seeing that video clip, Hope decided that she wanted to have a lemonade
stand to raise money to give to a charity that builds water wells in Africa. Time went by and Hope would occasionally bring up the idea of raising money for charity and help those in need. Finally, in the Summer of 2013, Hope's mom was going to have a rummage sale and it seemed like a good time to let Hope have her lemonade stand. Hope and her mom also decided that it would be good idea to sell cupcakes too. It was also decided the the money raised would be divided evenly between two charities, "Teamwork Africa", an Eau Claire, WI based charity that builds and maintains water wells in Liberia Africa, and "Harvest Of Talents For Rusk County" which helps those in need in Rusk County, WI, since Hope and her mom are on the Harvest Of Talents committee. So, with the help of her family and her friends Joann and Miriam Freeman, the lemonade was made, along with 96 cupcakes, and the stand was opened during her mom's garage sale. By the end of the first day, all the lemonade and cupcakes were sold out. So that night, Hope's mom stayed up late making 72 more cupcakes and the next day Hope and her cousin Landen helped decorate the cupcakes and the stand was open again. The stand did very well the second day too, with only a few of the cupcakes left unsold. Hope took those remaining cupcakes with her to church the next day and they were sold quickly. When the total was tallied up, Hope's lemonade and cupcake stand had raised:
$206.47 on day one
$125.05 on day two
And day 3 at church she sold the cupcakes that were left and brought in $80.50!!! For a total of $412.27 to split - (that's $206.14 for each charity)
She also received a donation of $120.00 designated specifically for Teamwork Africa toward building a well!! Now, with the support and encouragement of one of the adult Sunday school classes at her church, her family, and her own heart for other children.... Hope has now decided to build on the generous $120 and is going to try to raise $3000 to put in an entire well in Liberia!!! We are so proud of her for doing what she can to change lives and share Jesus!! She does this without hesitation. If anyone would like to help her raise money, feel free. We have many ideas in the works.... keep an eye open for fundraisers for Hope's well :):):):) Thank you to EVERYONE who has helped so far!!! What an encouragement you have been and so loving.
